SAMPLE RANT:
A rant is made up of basically five paragraphs. The first one you state what your argument is and 3 reasons for it. These should be brief. Here is what it looks like:
I believe that Harry Potter is the heir of Gryffindor because when choosing his wand red and gold sparks shot out (Gryffindor's colours), Voldemort wanted to kill Harry and his father, but NOT Lily, and Harry pulled Gryffindor's sword out of the sorting hat.
Now the next paragraph is an elaboration on your first argument. For example:
First, when Harry was choosing his wand, or rather the wand was choosing him, red and gold sparks shot out of the end of his wand. These were Gryffindor's colours, and are related with him commonly in the wizarding realm.
The Second and third paragraphs are also elaborations on your 2nd and 3rd arguments:
Second, Voldemort wanted to kill only James and Harry, thought he only killed Lily because she wouldn't get out of the way. Also perhaps it was not just love but a magic conducted by Gryffindor that said that one of his decendants would overthrow a dark lord.
Third, Harry pulled our Gryffindor's sword from the sorting hat in the Chamber of Secrets. Dumbledore told Harry later that only a true Gryffindor could pull that out of the sorting hat.
Your fifth paragraph is a summary of what you've just said:
Therefore, I belive that Harry Potter is a descendant of Godric Gryffindor.
Now, to challenge this situations you need but one argument, but it must be strong:
I do not belive that Harry Potter is the heir to Godric Gryffindor. I think that the only reason for Harry surviving Lord Voldemort's attacks is the reason we've already been given: that Lily died to save him. I also don't think that J.K. Rowling would write something so expected for the reader as she herself has said that she likes to write unexpected things so that the reader can only speculate what will happen next but not know for sure.
