The Forgetting Hole

About Us

The idea of this business came to Jess in 1999 when she was sick and tired of seeing bands making it in bigger cities and not here. The name came from her old roommate Bryan Sauriol. He called their big closet the forgetting hole because anything we didn't know where to put in the apartment, we threw in there and forgot about it. Jess used the name for the business because most indie music is unique and doesn't usually fit into the cookie cuttery genres of the main stream music world - thus becoming the industrial outcasts and forgotten about.. BUT NO MORE!

Here at the Forgetting Hole, we are driven to make the unpopular accessible to everyone everywhere. We think that independent music should be easy to access (ie: Music World) and the bands should be able to make a living at what they love.. while still keeping prices down at shows & making them all ages (so EVERYONE can come out and see them).. thus cutting out most of the middle men. Indie with a twist as we like to say..

Here's a breakdown of what we do:

  • We do make and send promotional packages if a band decides they want to sign with a label.
  • We send information to other promoters across North America (mainly in Ontario, Canada) so bands have access to cities and shows outside of their normal playing range.
  • We help the bands out with music access. (ie: download sites such as mp3.com)
  • We book shows in Peterborough year round for anyone who wants to come on out and have fun.
  • We do try as much as we can to help small bands in the process of getting out there. We love music. And that is that.
