December... didn't see many new species caught...! Or very much else for that matter. Which leaves Hazel the winner for the kids and and leaves me hiting my target of 50 (just). Would've been 51 but for a camera malfunction on the one and only Gilthead Bream. So what's nect year gonna bring...? 60, 70, 100...? Paul

November 21st - Sitges... saw our first boat trip out today. Although we saw nothing big I did finally manage species number 50 today...more

October 29th - Morfa Nefyn... again had an abundance of species, Cod, Whiting, Wrasse, Pollock, Launce, Dabs, Gurnard. And Dogfish...more

October 10th - River Ebro... gave us mixed results today. A blank, some tiddlers and some monsters... more

September 26th - Sitges... summer fishing may well be hitting it's peak right now. Garfish are absolutely everywhere, I got the first Amberjack of the year and this morning lost something moving at light speed. I've a good idea what it was though...more

September 13th - Morfa Nefyn... at this time of year should have been crawling with different species to catch. It's normally been a reliable place to top up the species count. Until now...more

September 14th - River Ebro... was like the tropics yesterday... sea temperature was a sweltering 81 decreeC and the sky poured rain like the monsoons. Still, we fished...more

September 6th - River Ribble... is a bit like the River Ebro really in that it holds monsters and tiddlers. Just like our trip down to the Ebro though, no monsters were caught today... more

September 3rd - River Ebro... had views of sand dunes that looked just like Shell Island. I still can't decide if the fishing was better though...more

August 13th - Sitges... has some wonderfull views but you don't normally see it from this angle. Unless you're out at sea...more

August 8th - Sitges Harbour... water temperature is obviously rising as the best of the summer species are now here, these Derbio...more

August 7th - Hindley Sqare Pit... and the fishing doesn't appear to have changed since I last went. Neither has the road down to it... more

July 25th - Morfa Nefyn... weather had changed for the worse since the last visit there this year. So had the fishing...!more

July 9th - Abersoch... beach threw up the biggest Bass of the year so far to Mark this night. And a flounder. Still no doggie for him though... more

July 18th to 26th - Shell Island... was just like last year and although our tent stayed up this time the strong winds again limited our boat fishing opportunities. When we did get out though there was some excellent fishing...more

July 6th - Sitges... harbour wall has been showing some good potential recently so after hooking and losing two Bluefish (and a brand new lure) in a week I thought that a trip on the old fellows boat would finally throw up some monsters. If only...more

July 4th - River Ribble... and something's clearly making the local minnows a little bit more hungry than usual. I wonder if live baiting for them with a whole mackerel on a 6/0 hook to wire will be strong enough... more

June 29th - Morfa Nefyn... or was it Sitges...? Welsh weather ain't supposed to be like this...more

June 11th to 18th - Sitges Harbour Wall... fished as expected during Dads visit this week. He managed five new species for the year including his first Barracuda but it was the Scad fishing that was best with some real monsters crashing into shoals of baitfish on the outside of the harbour wall. The sea was alive literally with fish, just like a scene from Blue Planet.

June 16th - River Wye... opened today as it is the start of the course fishing season. Although there were fish that Paul can't catch there were no gudgeon or minnows. Will this, in hindsight, prove to be a missed opportunity...?more

June 7th - Hindley Square Pit... was the venue I was advised to try today. It proved to be far better than my usual spot at the canal. As John will agree...more

June 5th - Shell Island... maintained it's reputation as a great venue for catching different species of fish. On an all day trip today I managed a phenomenal amount of fish of 10 different varieties including some nice lure caught Bass. Mark got an eel... more

May 31st - Sitges... and early morning fishing with lures threw up another monster this weekend..more

May 31st - Brixham... undoubtedly holds a multidude of species, even Mark managed six in a week. But I just wonder what excuse he made to Angela in order that they take their holidays there..? If it's Florida next year then his tactics are well and truly sussed out...more

May 25th - Rossmere... in May would probably have been the last place from which we'd expect to hear more reports of blanking. But then again it was John fishing. What more would we expect...more

May 23rd - Sitges Harbour... was hard fishing this morning. Lure fishing was out of the question as the water was quite murky and after battling through loads of silver fish on the float I finally managed to get a tiny bit of gold...more

May 21st - Withnell... lodges hold a multitude of species, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Bream, Tench, Carp, Crucians etc. Who better to send there to catch them all..? Not... more

May 9th and 10th - Bad weather... seemingly gripped North Wales for a second weekend and Tope, Mackerel, Bass and Black Bream were all as rare as those Gwyniad in Bala Lake. Luckily an old favourite or two saved a blank this weekend...more

May 4th - Camping by Bala Lake... gives many fishing opportunities, in both the surrounding rivers and the lake itself, where there is the chance to catch the ultra rare Gwyniad. It was very rare this weekend...more

May 2nd - Sitges Harbour Wall... It poured down yesterday but this morning the sun was shining, thee was no wind and from the balcony we could see the sea was flat. Along with the sunshine came a change in the fishing with this, the first Barracuda of the year.. more

April 25th - Morfa Nefyn... has an abundance of fish species. Dad and John started us off this year with half a dozen including this Ballan Wrasse. Only trouble is they should have caught twice as many...more

April 21st - Banana Pit... is certainly on my list of course venues to visit in the event of any trip back home. Here's what Mark caught today...more

April 21st - Savio Pool and Oakbank... where although they count, I've no doubt that the stickleback infestation has somewhat dented their popularity. Nevertheless I guess that a few more of you will be there soon though...more

Easter Week - Shell Island... and as you can see the conditions for fishing were just about perfect. High tides that crept up towards the sand dunes, flat calm seas and some sunshine thrown in for good measure. Wasn't what we'd expected in more ways than one...more

April 2nd - Springwood Reservoir... is not the place you'd normally go to catch tiddlers - that's Rossmere. It's also not the place you'd expect to catch Pike whilst fishing for said tiddlers. Luck has never been more extreme... more

March 28th and 29th - Spains River Ebro... is world famous for big Catfish and it's angling centre for these fish is in a town called Mequinenza from where fishing is done in the huge lakes above the big river dams. Five of us went there this weekend and between us had 7 fish with a combined weight of over 500lb... more

March 21st - Sitges Harbour Wall... today produced the first completely new species of the year. Although only small at the moment this cute little fellow on the right, a lime green speckled Dusky Grouper, has the potential to grow up to 5ft in lenth and over 130lbs in weight... more

March 19th - Rossmere... and given all the bad weather you've had recently it probably felt like The Fish Tank in summer today. Without the tiddlers...! more

March 5th - Adlington Canal... has a pub right at the side of it. Would you put your money on Neil catching as many as John did today...? more

March 2nd - River Ribble Hat Trick... today with plenty of fish that Paul can't catch. But then again neither can Neil... more

February 28th - Early morning fishing... proved worthwhile today. Although there were no monsters around there were plenty of these Scad showing at dawn who curiously all but disappeared as it came full light... more

February 26th - River Ribble... and whilst others stayed at home because of the cold todays visit by John proved very worthwhile with these nice Chub and Barbel. I just wonder how warm it'd need to get for Neil to try a trip there, but then again when it's warm there's always the pub, and they catch nowt there...more

February 21st - Sitges harbour wall part 2... and I had to have another hour this affy just because the weather was so nice. Caught nothing but the sunshine...

February 21st - Sitges Harbour Wall... and today I tried my first early morning session of the year. Although no more Bass were around, or the hoped for Barracuda or Bluefish, I just about saved a blank with this bonus small Weever Fish... more

February 20th - First visit of the year to the River Ribble... where not only is it full of fish that Paul can't catch it was also full of fish that Mark can't catch, (yet)... more

February 18th - Sitges Harbour Wall... and catching Bass here is just like catching buses. Nothing for years and then all of a sudden three of them come along in the same night...more

February 13th to 16th - A long weekend in Abersoch... could have potentially got Mark off to a flyer this year. Although the weather appeared perfect the fishing in the daytime sadly wasn't and the fish only decided to put in an appearance at night. But maybe it was the pirate ship that scared them all away... more

February 9th - Sitges Rainbow Road... and Hazel and me both got one each today. We also devised a new rule... seeing as theres no kids trophy the winner of the kids league chooses a PC/Wii/DS game from the shops... and the loser of the adults league buys it..!

February 6th - Sitges Fish Tank... and a quick hour after work this afternoon got me a couple of new Bream spacies for the year. Still leaves plenty of them to go at yet though...more

January 31st - Sitges in the rain... wasn't too nice but at least it was warm rain and not snow. Thankfully the fish were still biting...more

January 25th - Sitges calm after the storm... and although I hoped it had brough the Bluefish in it was still too breezy to cast my plug into. Made do with some tiddler bashing by where the jetskis dock but instead got this monster mullet...more

January 24th - No Fishing...! because we had 100mph winds today. Brought back fond memories of Shell Island though... more

January 3rd - River Dean... where Mark got the first totally new species for the year, this ugly looking Bullhead. Everyone also got Grayling but the Poacher nearly did best due to a slight camera malfunction along the way. Don't suppose it'll matter too much though as I expect there'll be plenty upcoming visits there on the hunt for more Bullhead... more

January 1st - Sitges Fish Tank... seemed like a good place to start us off today and as usual there was plenty of fish around...more
