The NEST

[September 22] The Onas bested 18 other entries in a logo and theme competition sponsored by the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo for its 2002 Family Day Celebration last September 22. According to Ms. Ma. Hellen M. Barber, vice chair for the event, the judges selected the logo because it was the most symbolic among the entries.

The winning logo with the theme, "The Philippine Family in Japan: Unity in Cultural Diversity" was a product of the teamwork of Erwin, Connie and Baby Ona. Erwin designed the logo, Connie thought of the theme and wrote the logo explanation and Baby provided the inspiration.

Unfortunately, the Onas could not come to Tokyo to receive the cash prize and certificate of participation from His Excellency Ambassador Domingo L. Siazon. Ms. Hilda Ramos, a good friend of the Onas received the certificate on their behalf. [ more NESTnews ]
