50/50 Windows

While I look out my window
And see you in each downcast eye
You're looking through the window's bars that hold you inside.

The sunlight, the shadows, are 50/50 now

You're gonna have to dig down deep to be free
You're gonna get dirty, you'll hurt, you won't breathe

But for all that the good times will seem better
And when you breathe again the air will taste fresher
So breathe in deeply
Breathe in deeply

I want to look out my window
And see you in each upturned face
I want you to see the window's bars -- broken, all disgraced

The striped tan you're left with,
It will fade in time
So don't give up now
Don't give up ever
