arrow Que1: Version[s]: 2002 / 2003

The user you are attempting to chat with is using a previous less secure version of the ICQ program. ICQ prevents this peer to peer connection be default. The default setting addresses security issues present in the 98 versions of the program. You can however over ride this setting via the following procedure:

1.) Open ICQ.

2.) Click the "Main" button, then select "Security and Privacy Permissions" from the pop-up menu.

3.) Click on "Peer to Peer Connection" from the side bar menu.

4.) Disable (uncheck) where it says: Do not allow Peer to Peer connection with previous ICQ software versions (ICQ98a versions and below)

1.) Click "Apply".

Note: You can re-enable this security setting (wise) by repeating the above steps and re-checking the setting.

This problem has persisted through this and all previous versions of ICQ. There is no fix however you can try a third party software utility designed to address this very problem at the following link:
