A windows-based operating system is menu-driven . Menus are lists of words that appear on the screen. You select an item in a menu by clicking on it with the mouse. The words across the top of the screen are part of the menu bar . When you click on one of these items, you see a drop-down menu . When you click on an item in a drop-down menu, you've made your selection.
The advantage of using a menu-driven operating system is that it eliminates the need to memorize a lot of commands. The commands appear on the screen and all the user needs to do is click on the one he/she wants.
