I still remember the day we met
It seems so many years ago
So young and free, we were then
You had your doll and I had mine

Our friendship was quickly formed

We grew from little girls with dolls
To young teens with makeup and clothes

Exploring the world of boys and music
We traveled along together always side by side
Where one was the other was never far away

Through all the trials and tribulations we had
We always had each other close by
We shared our thoughts and dreams each day

Laughing at the world outside
As close as any friends could be

It seems oh so dark and cloudy on that dreadful day
You were told you had to move away
We swore it would not change our friendship
Through tears we vowed we would never part

We hugged each other before you drove away

We tried to keep our vows to each other
And for many years we did
But life is such a fickle mistress
The years they took their toll
Distance was our one true enemy

I was with you the day you met your husband
In my arms,I held you're first born daughter

You came to hold my son

Then I to had to move far away
And distance won the battle

Our lives went on in different directions
You had two more children I never knew
I lived my life and my son grew tall
You never got to see it happen
Though thoughts of you were always there

The years slipped by it seems so fast
Then fate stepped in again
I found myself moving to your old town
I was here to live and stay
But alas I could no longer find you

I remember the day that we met again
It seemed oh so strange at first
A little uneasy we both first seemed
As we talked and remembered when
It was if nothing had ever changed

The little girl I grew to love
The friend I always knew
Was once more here beside me
The years had disappeared
All that remains is you and I

Best friends once again and forever more
