DRINKS

PAGA -- An alcoholic beverage brewed from the granis of Gor. Similar to Vodka, it is served warm in a footed bowl, in the tradition of Japanese Sake. ***The slave kneeling in the pleasure slave position, touches the bowl first to the slave's heart between her breasts to denote devotion and then to her lips. It is then presented, cupped in her hands, above her bowed head, eyes lowered in submission.

KA-LA-NA -- The golden sweet wine of Gor, is distilled from the fruit of the Kalana trees. ***The best and the sweetest coming for the Plains of Kalana. It is served chilled or at room temperature in a goblet.

ALE -- Gorean Ale is closer to a Honey Lager than to an ale or beer... a deep gold color, and brewed fromt he grains of Gor and hops imported from Urth in the early years. ***It is traditionally served in a goblet as above.

KAL-DA -- A hot drink almost scalding, made of distilled Ka-la-na wine, mixed with citrus juices and hot spices.

BLACKWINE -- A hot drink, similar to coffee drunk in the Louisiana part of Urth. Brewed from coffee beans imported eons ago from Urth, and nurtured in the mountainous regions of Gor.

TA-WINE -- a dry wine made from Ta grapes from the Isle of Cos, served at room temperature, or warm, in a tankard or goblet.

SLAVEWINE 1 -- Watered down sweetened Ka-la-na.

SLAVEWINE 2 -- Brewed from bitter herbs, and acts as a contraceptive. Is drunk once per month.

FOOD ANIMALS

BOSK -- Though similar in build to the Yak or Urth, the Bosk have the form of the buffalo of Urth. Like the buffalo, Bosk provides food, leather and many of the needs of the people of Gor. The meat may be roasted or broiled, dried, stewed or served in a variety of ways.

VULO -- A small bird, similar to the chicken, served roasted and spiced or baked in spice leaves.

TARSK -- Similar to the Urth pig in form and ecological niche. They are not a favored food, being carrion eaters, but are a staple among the rence growers.

TUMITS -- A large carniverous bird of the plains. It is hunted and eaten by the Nomadic people of Gor. Traditionally hunted with bolos, the sport lies in whether you or the bird gets to eat that night.

TABUK -- Swift gazelle like animals, known for their sweet meat and speed. The Tabuk is generally served roasted.

OTHER FOODS

TOPSIT -- A small tart fruit used in both throwing games of skill with the knife and as a food.

REDFRUIT -- Similar in flesh and taste to apples of Urth origins.

CHEESE -- Pressed from the milk of the Bosk. They are sharp in taste and travel well, resisting molds in their hard rinds.

BLACK BREAD -- Baked soft and full flavored from Gorean grains. They are heavy and dark, served with clotted Bosk cream or honey.

RENCE -- A water plant. The grain is eaten, the stems harvested and pressed into paper or woven into cloth. The grainmay be boiled or ground into a paste and sweetened. This paste can also be fried into a type of pancake.

SA-TARNA -- grain, wheat

SA-TASSNA -- meat; food in general

SULLAGE -- a soup made principally from suls, tru-pah and kes, along with whatever else may be handy

TUR-PAH -- an edible tree parasite with curly, red, ovate leaves; grows on the tur tree; a main ingredient in sullage.

SORP -- a shellfish, common in the Vosk river, similar to an oyster.

SUL -- starchy, golden-brwon, vine-born fruit; principal ingredient in sullage; a tuberous vegetable, similar to the potato; often served sliced and fried.

SLAVE PORRIDGE -- a cold, unsweetened mixture of water and Sa-Tarna meal, on which slaves are fed; sometimes called "bond-maid gruel", and often mixed with pieces of chopped parsit fish.

RAM-BERRIES -- small, succulent purple berries

LARMA -- succulent fruit, rather like an apple; sometimes sliced and fried, served with browned-honey sauce. *** offering a larma, real or imagined, by a slavegirl to her Master is a silent plea for the girl to be raped.

KORT -- a rinded fruit of the Tahari; served sliced with melted cheese and nutmeg.

KES -- a shrub whose salty, blue secondary roots are a main ingredient in sullage.

FISH -- many different varieties of fish are consumed *eg. pasit - a silvery fish, having brown stripes and wingfish - tiny blue salt-water fish with 4 poisonous spines on it's dorsal fin; it's liver is considered a delicacy in Turia.

SOME OTHER ANIMALS OF GOR

TARNS -- Enormous relatives of the Urth golden eagle. Some have the wingspan of 50 feet. They are bred in 2 types: WAR Tarns -- heavier but agile and trained to aid in battle and RACING Tarns -- slender and lighter birds bred for speed and endurance. They are also used by messengers to go from one city/state to another.

KAIILA -- Similar to a velociraptor, standing 20-22 hands high, covered with a silken fur, vicious from birth, deadly, sleek and carniverous, and fast. Capable of covering 600 pasangs in a day. the eyes are triple lidded against the sand storms of the desert regions.

SLEEN -- The deadly hunting dog of Gor. A cross btween a weasel and a Komodo dragon, furred, with fangs that drip a deadly poison. They are 6 legged and tenacious, they can track a trail days old as if it were fresh. They rend and kill the object of the hunt. Sleen are pack animals and cared for only by their Masters, so that they are not befriended by the slave, who may try to escape.

LARL -- Gorean mountain predator, huge standing to 7' feet at the shoulder, tawny and leopardlike, it keeps to the mountains, but on occasion will raid human habitations. They sable black have a mane..bothmale & female, and there is also the maneless tawny red. Where the females are generally smaller, they are very dangerous.

THALARION -- Heavy, swift beasts, ranging nearly 40 hands high, warm blooded reptiles, used in battle as shock troops. A smaller bred cousin is used as draft animals on Gor. The Marsh Thalarion is not domesticated, but a vicious and voracious hunter.

MARSH SHARK -- Deadly fresh water hunter of the Gorean Marshes, similar in shape to the shark of Urth.

URTS -- Reptilian rat, the size of a terrier.

VOSK SORP -- A giant clam that thrives in the seas and Marshes of Gor. The shell is large enough to be used as a throne.
