For those with former online D/s experience: Upon Gor, there is no such thing as a "brat" or "paddle me, daddy" girl. Bratty subs will not be tolerated, and will suffer strict Gorean punishment for their actions, up to and including being tied up and fed to the hungry Gorean wildlife which lurks outside Gorean channels.A slave is a slave, and a free person is a free person. It is your choice which to be when you first arrive on Gor, but upon Gor one does not often switch back and forth. Do so and you will both lose the respect of your fellow Goreans and wind up being ignored and scoffed at.
Choose your persona and stick with it. While you might think it is cute to run around pretending to be several different persons, it is not. Goreans will not tolerate such irresponsible activity.
When choosing your first nick, pick a sensible one. There are too many "pretty_slv"s and "beautiful"s as it is; don't add to the confusion by selecting such a self-serving and vain name. Also, nicks such as "sassy_grl" and "poor_me" are similarly goofy. If in doubt, use your own first name with a small first letter. Remember, capital letters are for free persons.
Often a channel will contain few Masters and many slaves, which results in a lot of slaves who have no one to serve. If this is so, find other ways to make yourself useful... simulate doing chores, cooking, etc. One does not join a channel, loudly ask if anyone needs service, then quit when no answer is forthcoming. In addition, one does not just sit silently in a channel awaiting a call to service. Make your presence known, but do not pester each Master and beg to serve, or stand up and loudly ask if anyone needs service. This does not constitute pleasing behavior.
Slaves are allowed, even expected, to have fun in channel. This includes engaging in pleasant conversation with free persons and other slaves; still, a wise slave knows when to shut up, and weighs each remark carefully lest she be found displeasing.
If it has a capped nick, its a free person. Behave appropriately. If you are given an instruction which you do not understand or feel is inappropriate, ask for clarification. If ordered to do something which you feel to be unlawful, contact a channel OP and beg for aid.
Often you will be approached in a coercive manner by those who wish to engage in cyber-sex. If this is to your liking and your owner has no qualms about it, then do so. If asked to engage in cyber-sex by one whom you do not trust, ask a channel OP for aid.
There are dozens of Gorean channels and all are different. If you cannot effectively exist in one, seek another which suits you better. Also, the OPs of each channel will vary according to their willingness to aid and advise you. If you need further assistance and it is not forthcoming, contact your fellow slaves and ask for advice. Often they can steer you in the right direction.
SERVICE: What it is and how to do it The primary function of a slave upon Gor, and therefore upon Gorean IRC, is to serve the needs of free persons. There are as many different modes of service as there are Masters and Mistresses. Each free person has his or her own preferred manner whereby service requirements are fulfilled. This will not attempt to list them all, but rather simply offer some guidelines which should help the willing slave integrate themselves into Gorean society.
First of all, a slave should be respectful and dutiful in the presence of any free person. This is because, upon Gor, free persons literally hold the power of life and death over any slave. Upon Gor, all slaves are considered to be responsible for serving all free persons.
While some Masters and Mistresses will collar a slave and reserve them for their private use, this does NOT mean that the slave in question is no longer required to be pleasing to all free persons at all times. There have always been slaves who came to Gor but refused to bow to this rule, and the graveyards of Gor are littered with their bodies. There is no place on Gor for bratty or selfish slaves, and if you cannot deal with this, then go elsewhere and save yourself some hard knocks.
In the presence of a free person, a Gorean slave kneels at all times, unless serving or commanded otherwise.
A Gorean slave addresses all free men as "Master" and all freewomen as "Mistress" regardless of whether or not they are owned by that person.
A Gorean slave is humble at all times and respects the servility of his or her station.
A Gorean slave does not bargain, debate or argue.
A Gorean slave does not expect to be rewarded, and takes pleasure from being pleasing and providing service.
A Gorean slave cannot have "honor," but is expected to have integrity, loyalty and to serve all to the best of his or her ability.
A Gorean slave accepts punishment and discipline without complaint.
A Gorean slave is always looking for something to do or someone to serve.
When a slave fails to understand a command given to him or her, they politely ask for it to be clarified.
A Gorean slave is forbidden by law to touch money, a whip, or any form of weaponry with their hands, unless expressly instructed to.

HINTS AND TIPS MACROS: Most IRC chat client programs are equipped with the ability to pre-program specific actions and reactions in the form of macros known as "Aliases" and "PopUps." Many Gorean free persons frown on the use of such things, and consider them to be "cheating" or to be indicative that the slave is too lazy to just type in the actions or phrases. This can even include the use of such macros for long and complex actions such as performing dances. It is a good ideal to avoid use of such things when possible.CHANNEL RULES: Each separate IRC channel has its own rules and customs regarding such things as requesting permission to enter and leave the channel, being upon more than one channel at a time, etc. If in doubt, ask. If you don't like the rules of a particular channel, go elsewhere. A slave does not argue.
KAJIRI, OR MALE SLAVES: Many Gorean males find the existence of a Kajirus, or male slave, to be offensive. If compelled to be one, know that it is a risky and often thankless endeavor. If your presence is not found acceptible, again, go elsewhere.
