You decide to walk down the corridor, following the direction that the Countess took as she ran to her lover, wondering what you might find here...

As you walk down the corridor you pass many portraits of Lord Dehmerest and Lady Erzsebet, sometimes alone...but most show them sitting together looking happy and content. Yet you wonder why such a kind and welcoming person as the Countess is with such a harsh personality as the strange lord. You wonder about the relationship and think back to the conversation you overheard in the throne room.

You wonder if the reactions of Lord Pain are somehow mixes up with the unknown characters of the Harpy and the Son of Paris that he mentioned. Is that who he wishes to protect the one he loves from? Then you begin to question that that is not all he wants, does he want to keep the Countess trapped here, making her fear a reality that is not so bitter and frightening as she seems to believe it to be? Or could it be that his anger at your presence has more to do with his own fear of reality than a wish to protect the Countess?

Even as that thought enters your head you dispel it, surely that could not be the case. You have felt the presence of Lord Dehmerest and you are sure that he fears very little. You remember how he looked at the Countess, a look of devotion, and you decide his actios must surely be all for her. He is her Champion, her lover, her confident. It is for her that he is wary of you, it is for her that he fights against creatures of reality.

Even to think of Lord Pain brings a sense of fear to your mind, yet you can't help but remember how he reacted to the Countess, with such gentleness and care. Yes, your mind is made up...you have nothing to fear from him so long as you do not threaten the Countess, and you know that you could never harm such a creature as she is...and so you continue your journey thru the castle...

A door on the right hand wall has a key jutting form the lock...do you wish to turn it and enter this room...?

Or would you rather leave this game...?
