The sun's rays can be used to produce heat and cook food! Make your own solar cooker. Warning: Food may be hot. (This activity works best on sunny days.)
MATERIALS: construction paper, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, paper cup, sugar, cinnamon, apple
PROCEDURE:
1. Fold the
paper into a cone
2. Line the cone
with foil
3. Point the
cone toward the sun
4. Place an
apple slice in a cup and cover it with plastic wrap
5. Put the cup
inside the cone
6. Check on the
apple slice every 30 min. Be sure to keep the cone facing the
sun.
7. Once the
apple is cooked, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and
enjoy!
*Note: This experiment may be adapted to cook hot dogs as well.
