1. LEONARD C.2 SEARS (DAVID1) was born Abt. 1829 in Logan County, Kentucky. He married MARGARET DRISKILL November 06, 1848 in Todd Co, KY, daughter of WILLIAM DRISKILL and MARGARET SEARS.

The 1870 census shows Leonard Sears (age 46) and Margaret (age unreadable) living in Sharon Precinct, Todd County, Kentucky. His occupation is given as farmer. The children listed are John D. (age unreadable), James M. (age 16), unreadable name (age12), George W. (age 10), and Andrew J. (age 7). Source: 1870 Census

One child, unnamed, is listed as having been born to Leonard and Margaret in July, 1856 and having died in the same month. A. J. Sears, Etc., plaintiffs, vs. Geo. Sears, Etc., Defendants.

All parties having claims against Leonard C. Sears, deceased, are notified to file same with the undersigned at his office in Elkton, Ky., properly proven and verified as required by law, on or before July 11, 1910, or be forever barred from the collection of same. S. M. Russell, M. C. T. C. C.

The following is an excerpt from the Todd County Times, Friday August 13, 1909: County Court

The will of the late Leonard C. Sears was probated. He devises to his son, James M. Seaes, 73 acres of land, known as Tomerlin track, together with a bay mare and a number of household articles. To his sons J. D., G. W., and A. J., Sears, he gives $5 each, and the same amount to the children of his daughter, Fannie McIntosh. The instrument is dated June 30, 1909 and attested by D. S. Watson, S. J. Heltsley and T. W. Sears. No Executor is named.

The State of Arkansas Certificate of Death for George W. Sears shows the date of death as 25 April 1917 (Vol. 015, Certificate No. 00196). The age at the time of death is 58 years/eight months. The date of birth is given as August 1, 1858. His occupation is farmer, his father is shown as Leonard Sears, born in Logan County, Kentucky, his mother is Margaret Driskill, born in Tood County, Kentucky. The cause of death is unreadable but appears to be charonic intestinal nephritis. The information was provided by Frank Barber who is the husband of George W. Sears daughter Lula Sears.
