Zaibach News
Yes, an Escaflowne movie IS in the works by the orignal creators
at Sunrise Studios. The movie is scheduled to be released in Spring of 2000. It will
include the same characters but in a different story.
It will not be related to the original Escaflowne series, nor will it
be a continuation... It's all the characters we know and love in an entirely
different story... Like a parallel universe story. (This was done with the
Rayearth series as well). I'm disappointed by this because I already love
these characters for what they are and now they are going to be messed with and
changed for a new story.. Ah well... I'm sure there's people out there who enjoy this
And here's the new character design... The wonderful pointy noses
are gone in favor of new stubby ones.. *sigh* You should never change
character design...Really guys... But here they are. Feast your eyes.
Dilandau has power of the Dragon Clan now and in this new version
he is all male (no Serena). Also Allen Schezar IS in this movie.
Hitomi is transported to Gaea due to depression and suicidal thoughts and
the movie focuses more on her relationship with Van (now savage looking)
instead of guymelef battles. Also the Escaflowne is no longer a white dragon. It
is now a Golden melef. Merle seems the most unchanged so far.
Here's hoping its good despite all the changes..

*Another note. They are working on getting Escaflowne the series english dubbed
onto TV in America. My only question is, who in the world can do a good voice for
Dilandau other than his original seiyuu?? Here's hoping the new voice is perfect for psycho Dilly.
