A Tribute To My Dad

My dad, Ron English, died suddenly of cancer on the 9th of July 1978. He was just 36 years old. I was only six years of age at the time and didn't really realise what had happened to him.

As I grew into an adult and had a family of my own it dawned on me that I didn't really know much about him or remember him all that well. Over the past few years I have taken the time to talk to people about my dad, in the hope of getting to know more about the wonderful man that was, and will always be, my father.

I am now writing what I have learnt as a tribute to the man I love but hardly knew. My wish is that his memory will live on through this tribute and that his grandchildren, Bridget, Mark and Ben, may now come to know a little about the wonderful man that they will never get a chance to call 'grandad'. I know that Dad has with him in safe-keeping in Heaven his little grandson, Jamie, who never got a chance to stay with us on earth.
