"Hanson showing maturity on 'This Time Around'"
(Launch) - Hanson is back with a new album titled "This Time Around," which is due out Tuesday. Brothers Isaac, 19, Taylor, 17 and Zac, 14, are a little bit older, taller and wiser "this time around," but the band members don't want to make a too much of a fuss over how they have matured since the release of their 1997 debut, "Middle of Nowhere." After all, that album sold more than 8 million copies worldwide and earned Hanson three Grammy nominations, including for record of the year for "MMMBop." Isaac Hanson said fans will hear an obvious difference in the boys' voices, but the band has also developed musically since the days of "MMMBop" and "Weird". "I think a large part of it has to do with the voice changes, so people aren't instantly going, 'Oh, that's a bunch of little kids,'" he said. One thing that differentiates Hanson from many other boy bands is the fact that the brothers penned all of the tracks on "This Time Around" and also co-produced the album. Isaac Hanson said that in addition to the star-studded guest list, the band made subtle changes in its songwriting style for the album. "They have a gospel-esque feel to them and certain songs are definitely unique," Isaac Hanson said.

3-30-00: HANSON LAUNCHES ISP (INFOBEAT)
*** Teen group Hanson launches ISP
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The brothers from the group Hanson - Isaac, Taylor and Zac - are now just a click away from the teeny-boppers who find them irresistible. On Thursday, the band will launch www.Hanson.net, a full-service Internet service provider. The site provides dial-up access for $14.95 a month and offers users a "virtual backstage pass" to the group's upcoming tour. The site, described as "a totally interactive online destination for Hanson fans," debuts on the eve of the release of Hanson's new album, "This Time Around." The site is the latest creation from rocker David Bowie's entertainment Internet company UltraStar Internet Services.

Really Randoms: David Bowie, Hanson Bowie nets Hanson...
"All the young dudes: David Bowie may not be touring this year, but that doesn't mean he's sitting around knitting booties as he and Iman wait for the stork. The Thin White Web Entrepreneur has just added teen sensations Hanson to his list of web clients, which includes the New York Yankees (YankeesXtreme.com) and Baltimore Orioles (OriolesWorld.com). Bowie's UltraStar Internet Services has been working on a site to bring a new and improved Hanson to the unsuspecting world in anticipation of their new album, This Time Around, due May 9. At midnight on March 29, Hanson.net will go live, giving fans a peak at the new album which features guest appearances from Beck, John Popper and Jonny Lang..."

3-24-00: UNDERCOVER MUSIC NEWS - ABOUT THE TOUR
Undercover Music News.com posted this article:
Teen sensations HANSON who are in Australia promoting their new album "This Time Around" announced to tens of thousands of their fans during a 30 minute on-line chat at Undercover on AOL LIVE that they will be embarking on a world tour mid 2000. The 3 brothers, Zac, Taylor and Isaac arrived at Undercover HQ in Melbourne at 12 midday (local time) to get ready for the AOL LIVE on-line chat session. With a supply of diet Coke and Redskins, the boys told their cyber fans that they were excited about touring the world. Isaac said "we plan on starting a world tour in July in the United States and then plan to go to Asia and Australia later in the year around October and November". However no dates have been confirmed. Asked by a fan in Ohio how long it took to write their new single "If Only", Taylor said " It came late in the process". Isaac added,"we wrote it in a couple of weeks before we started recording." As for "This Time Around," Taylor revealed it was a song about dying for what you believe in and not giving into oppression and fighting for your beliefs. After the on-line chat at Undercover on AOL Live, HANSON did a live to Internet interview streamed around the world on the Undercover.net.au site. Following lunch, they recorded a local radio interview, made a 15 minute appearance at Melbourne's Hard Rock Cafe, before doing an acoustic performance of "If Only" on national television. The boys head north to Brisbane, Queensland for a charity concert on Saturday March 25, before heading off to New York USA to continue their world promotional tour. HANSON'S successful on-line chat at Undercover on AOL Live follows other huge sessions with bands like Westlife and 98Degrees.

On the main page there's a link to an Electronic Press Kit with 8 and a half minutes of conversation about the new album with interviews and song clips. The guys explain some of the different aspects of the songs and meanings behind them.

3-7-00: BILLBOARD REVIEW
*Billboard Review* from March 11th issue:
HANSON This Time Around (3:55)
Producers: Stephen Lironi, Hanson
Writers: I. Hanson, T. Hanson, Z. Hanson
Publisher: Jam'N'Bread Music, ASCAP
Island 15034 (CD promo)
"Perhaps you thought you wouldn't be hearing this name again, but Hanson is not only back, it has wisely redefined itself. While the hooks are still firmly in place, the overall sound now is much more rock-oriented, and it's damn credible. You may recall that these guys already wrote their songs and played most of the instruments on their 1997 major-label debut, "Middle Of Nowhere." You may also remember that middle child Taylor showed incredible promise with a voice that simply cooked in a live setting. Wisely, this mature concoction cuts a clear path to an older audience, giving it a solid chance at adult top 40 in addition to its base at mainstream pop. The song, which the guys wrote and co-produced, opens as a ballad, with a piano intro that resembles "Desperado," then gradually picks up steam until it bursts into a rousing midtempo chorus that will simply make your mouth drop open. Taylor's vocals are magnificent, at once soulful and full of depth, while the instrumentation is meaty, creative and fulfilling. It's time to disregard any preconceived notions about this act and accept the fact that Hanson has the enduring talent and confidence to reach its greatest heights yet with this enlightening single.

3-6-00: POST AT AFH FROM ASHLEY G. ABOUT THE NEW ISP
"I have received many e-mails SLAMMING Hanson for taking down the message board and trying to charge people for what was once free. If you read a little more carefully, the message board is FREE and always will be...people just aren't patient on these things and don't even investigate before they claim we are running to the bank. Hanson.net (the message board) will be moving to Hansonline.com as soon as a new design is implemented. Hanson.net will become a service, like a Hanson specific AOL. For 14.95 ($7 LESS than AOL) you get a full dial-up ISP with tech support (provided my industry leading professionals) plus AMAZING content that we are unable to provide on a free site due the the amazing demand and incredible expense. Hansonline will ALWAYS be free and be better than ever so no one is going to have to pay for anything they were getting for free. You can also get hanson.net via TCP/IP (using someone else as your dial-up) for $6.95 a month. It is NOT a message board. You get 5 e-mail accounts, 10 megs of web space, Instant messaging, daily news, stock reports, etc., etc. But best of all you get exclusive content that cannot be delivered on a free site due the the high cost of bandwidth. If you didn't know, Hanson has to pay for every picture you view, audio you hear or video you see on their site. Again, our goal is to also make hansonline better and not withhold stuff and make you pay for it. Soon we will even have some foreign language translations for hansonline as well. Hanson.net will have stuff like streaming video from the tour, a virtual backstage pass, streaming unreleased tracks like the ones left off of the album, plus way more than I can ever mention. It is a really cool thing and Hanson is way into it but no one has to sign up if they don't want to. Like I said, if hansonline is enough for you then great. You can think of it like MOE even though it is WAY more than that. It is going to be incredible, only David Bowie has done it and we are going to outdo him bigtime =o) At any rate like I said, Hansonline will be better than ever anyway...spread the word... this is a GOOD thing even if you DONT join cause hansonline is going to be much improved...no one you can lose...kapiche???"

3-6-00: FROM INFOBEAT.COM
"*** Hanson readies new video
(MTV.com) - Hanson recently hooked up with director David Meyers and shot the video for the title track of their upcoming album "This Time Around." Taylor Hanson told MTV News that the song delves into some serious issues. The song, Taylor explained, deals with the beliefs and things people can be passionate about, and the intense fight they are willing to face to have them. The brothers considered focusing the video story-line around this concept, but decided the serious nature of the material might not flow with their fans. Instead, they opted to do a more performance-based video. "This Time Around" should hit radio this week, and the video will debut at 10:30 p.m. ET, Monday on MTV. For more, visit MTV.COM."

This is the article at ALLOY.COM Tune In/Entertainment:
PICK OF THE WEEK
Taylor Hanson's new look. Not bad, huh?
We caught up with Hanson this past Wednesday at a press conference Isaac, Taylor, and Zac held to announce the release of their upcoming disc, This Time Around. Three years after the release of the band's breakthrough Middle of Nowhere, the guys not only look totally different -- Isaac and Taylor have both chopped their long locks ("It was just time.") and formerly pint-sized Zac, 14, has gone through a major growth spurt -- they've also got a new sound.
This Time Around is a total rock album -- complete with serious guitar riffs, mucho attitude, and guest appearances by Jonny Lang, John Popper of Blues Traveler, and Rose Stone of the famous '60s group Sly and the Family Stone. "It's a little bit more rock 'n roll. The chord structures are more complicated. We just took a little different perspective with the songs," says Taylor, 16. "Everything we think, see, and experience has influenced us. And being on the road has definitely changed our perspective."
Currently, the guys are in the studio, putting the finishing touches on the CD, which is slated to hit stores May 9. Expect to catch the first single, "This Time Around," on the radio sometime in March, and after that, the guys say they're going to launch a world tour. How do they think old skool Hanson fans are gonna react? Says Isaac, 18, "If you're only familiar with "Mmmbop,"' and you haven't really listened to all of Middle of Nowhere, then This Time Around will be quite a jump." We can't wait!
[Thanks to Hanson Hotel for this one.]

2-1-00: LISTEN TO CLIPS OF IF ONLY AND SAVE ME
Listen to the two new clips at Hansonline Updates. So far there are five clips of the new songs including This Time Around, Dying To Be Alive, and In The City, and it's obvious that this album is going to open the eyes of some people who've been standing in the shadows about Hanson. This album is different and definitely showcases another side of their talent.

2-1-00: DOT MUSIC [UK] ARTICLE - 'IF ONLY' - HANSON RETURN
Here's a link to Dot Music, if you want to check it out, but here's the article:
"Hanson last week completed work on their second album in Los Angeles with producer Steve Lironi. The first UK single from the project will be 'If Only' due for release on April 3 followed by the album on May 1.
The first US single is likely to be 'This Time Around'. Guests on the album include Jonny Lang, DJ Swamp (Beck), John Popper (Blues Traveller) and Rose Stone (Sly And The Family Stone).
One source says the work resembles the solo projects of Jon Bon Jovi, who also worked with Lironi the past.
'When they originally recorded 'Mmm Bop' Taylor's voice hadn't broken but by the time they came to do promotion on the single in the UK, it had - and he had no trouble performing it live. Their voices sound better then ever', adds the source.

2-1-00: ASHLEY GREYSON RESPONDS TO MISTRANSLATED SWEDISH ARTICLE AT HANSON.NET
Apparently there was some controversy about the translation of a Swedish magazine article about Hanson where they were misconstrued as saying that "they would rather be stoned than play their old music for their fans." Well, this will clear everything up...

Author Topic: Swedish Magazine Interview
ashVID - Administrator posted 02-01-2000 06:07 AM
----------------------------------------------------------------- It has come to our attention through the numerous posts on this board and flood of e-mails we have received that there has apparently been an article from a Swedish magazine that was less than flattering. Let me assure you that Hanson made no such comments. I am not sure if the interview is even real or just posted by someone who got it from a friend, who got it from a friend, who got it from a friend...etc. Just because something is said or posted doesn't make it fact. If the interview was a real interview (possible as there has already been international press)it was either grossly mistranslated to Swedish or back to English from Swedish. The comment may have been, "the new music is a more rock than the old stuff but we think our fans will like it and we can't wait to play it for them." Somehow "rock" gets translated as "stone" and the comment becomes, "...we would rather be stoned to death by our fans than to play our old music for them." Just give them the benefit of the doubt. If Hanson actually made such comments it would be headline news not a small Swedish fan magazine article. Thanks for understanding! New clips coming soon to hansonline...

Yep, here it is! The cover to Hanson's new album, 1-28-00: THE ALBUM COVER HAS ARRIVED!!!
Well, here it is guys, the new album cover. Very cool, huh? I think you might as well hook up a mainline to the Updates page at Hansonline these days, because a whole lotta new information is coming through on it. There's a new sound clip of Dying To Be Alive too. Hanson is currently working on the video to the new single, This Time Around, which should start being played at radio stations in March. Follow Christopher Sabec's suggestions for requesting the song below.

1-27-00: THE MANAGEMENT HAS SPOKEN --CHRISTOPHER SABEC'S POST AT HANSON.NET
Administrator posted 01-27-2000 10:03 PM ----------------------------------------------------------------- "Hello. On behalf of Isaac, Taylor, Zac, and everyone else involved with HANSON, I would like to thank everyone for their patience during the making of the new album, "This Time Around." Your wait will be richly rewarded--we think the music speaks for itself. Many fans have e-mailed to ask how they can help support the band as the first single goes to radio. Here are some suggested guidelines to keep in mind:

1) Only contact radio stations through their official request channels. This could be a phone number, e-mail address, or both...all that matters is that it be the radio station's 'official' method of fielding requests. Personal e-mail addresses, business office phone lines, personal employee phone lines, etc. should never be used, as they are not counted by any of the stations and often frustrate the DJs and their staffs.

2) Only contact broadcast radio stations in your local area. Requesting the single at a broadcast radio station outside your listening area does not help Hanson. Caller ID and other identification methods reveal where a call and/or e-mail originated. Stations often disregard these requests and too many of them can become annoying. An exception to this would be internet radio stations which can be located anywhere. Keep in mind, however, that these stations can tell if you are an actual listener and requests from fans who don't tune in to the station are ignored. Above all, please be reasonable in the number of requests you make. Bombarding the stations with requests could be counterproductive.

That's all for now. If I think of more guidelines, I'll post again.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the new music. And as always, thanks for your support and enouragement; HANSON would not be HANSON without all of you.

Kind regards,
Christopher Sabec

And while you're at Hansonline, check out the new sound file of "Time Time Around". It is absolutely awesome!

Text in the blue section:
The Tulsa Trio are alive and well! Yep, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson are busy recording a new album which is due out in February. There’s no title as yet, but fans are calling it “Album X.” So what can we expect? “The songs are a little big more rock ’n’ roll,” says Ike. The boys recorded three songs (“Smile,” “If Only” and “Runaway Run”) with producer Ric Ocasek, before giving him the flick. We decided it wasn’t going the direction the album was going in,” Tay explains. There’s no word on what the first single will be, but Ike likes a tune called “You Never Know.” Other rumoured song titles include “Dying To Be Alive,”, “We All Know”, “Bridges of Stone” and “Hand In Hand.”

12-29-99: FINAL RESULTS OF ALLPOP POLL FROM 12-13-99: HANSON STILL POPULAR
Monday, December 13, 1999
The AllPop/Hanson saga is finally over.
Two weeks ago, AllPop posted a poll called "Do You Still care about Hanson?" We received 131 votes and the results showed that 60% of the voters didn't care about Zac, Isaac or Taylor anymore....or so we thought. Once Hanson fans heard about our poll they became very offended. We received over forty emails from fans who insisted there are hundreds of people who still love Hanson. After reading through all the emails, we decided to post the poll one more time. The second time we asked "Do You Still Care About Hanson?", the answer was an enthusiastic yes. 1724 people voted in our survey and 87% said they still cared about Hanson while only 13% didn't want to think about the three Mmmmboppers anymore. Congratulations Hanson fans, you've proven to be a very loyal group of people. --AllPop

12-28-99: COULD LARRYLAND BE HANSON'S NEXT OPENING BAND?
This appeared on a website called Not From Around Here:
TourLand (27/12/99)
Speculation is mounting that a support slot on Hanson's US tour next year could become a reality for the band. Hanson, signed to the same management company as LarryLand have been fans of the band since being introduced through a mutual friend, photographer Taylor Crothers.
LarryLand met up with the Hanson boys on a recent US trip, and it's not clear which of the bands were the most star struck! Should the opportunity to gig with Hanson arise, the boys are likely to face stiff competition to their post-gig partying.....see LarryLand at a video arcade near you soon, mastering their Nintendo skills!... [guess only time will tell on this one]

12-28-99: WILL HANSON BE ABLE TO REPEAT THEIR SUCCESS?
Have any opinions on this one? If so, go to RollingStone.com and post your thoughts.

12-28-99: HANSON FACE THE WRATH OF BECK'S PRACTICAL JOKES (yea right!)
(Rolling Stone) - Hanson spent a good portion of 1999 holed up in a recording studio with Black Grape producer Stephen Lironi and Mark Hudson recording the follow-up to 1997s "Middle of Nowhere." The fruits of their labor will soon see the light of day, as the yet untitled album is due to hit stores next May. Apparently, the sibling trio were hard at work at the same Los Angeles studio Beck was recording "Midnite Vultures." Although it may have been awe inspiring to have such a creative wellspring working so closely, the brothers may not have viewed Beck's presence in such a positive light. According to RollingStone.com, Beck and his band tormented the young and impressionable Hanson trio with teasing and practical jokes. For more, RollingStone.com.

12-22-99: ROLLINGSTONE.COM: ESSENTIAL RECORDINGS OF THE 90'S
"The records that follow are those that Rolling Stone's editors and writers have chosen as essential to understanding the Nineties -- a time that has seen both the grunge revolution, led by a trio named Nirvana, and the pop counter-revolution, led by a trio named Hanson; a time that has seen the continuing worldwide expansion of the hip-hop empire; a time when two Dylans, father and son, made great records. We've sorted our albums by genre and chronology, giving a picture of how styles matured and mutated across the last ten years. And we've chosen records that represent artists at their creative peak...." [Yes, Hanson was on that list for "Middle of Nowhere" in the Dance & Pop genre.]

(I prefer April 25th :) Beginning with a pinup in POPSTAR! (MAY/JUN 2000)-our "boy band boy-nanza" issue-we will bring you s'more of the Hanson guyz. And here is some juicy news: We were among a handful of magz invited to Mercury's offices to listen to 6 of the NEW songs that will appear on Hanson's still-untitled album. Because by the time we print it in the mag it will be months from now, we're letting you Hanson fans know some details now, by e-mail: 5 of the songs were really fast, driving rock songs, and there was 1 ballad. The obvious pick hit (to our ears) was "If Only"-it has the sound of one of those songs radio programmers will want to play over and over. It begins with a really bizarre musical hiccupping noise that is so catchy it just might help make some Hanson hatas into Hanson playas. "If only I had the guts to feel this way/You'd look at me and want to stay/I'd take you in my arms and say/That I won't go because I need you/Please don't go because I need you now"--these are *not* exact lyrics, just a guesstimate to give you a taste. It's a reallllly romantic song and is a possible single. The other possible single is an equally strong ditty called "This Time Around" (nope, not a Michael Fredo remake, ha). This one is really lush and heartfelt, and contains melancholy lyrics like "I'm feeling older" and "It's getting cold now". It's very Goo Goo Dolls...but very '70s...but totally Hanson. The other uptempo titles were "Do You Love Me?" (really driving rock song with Jonny Lang guesting and a defiant edge), "Run Away Run" (this one had a Bryan Adams wail and a short but amazing Zac drum break), "Dying to Be Alive" (really fragile and sweet vocals backed up by Rose Stone and her choir for an orchestral feel). The ballad was a sweet one called "Song to Sing" that was really reminiscent of an old Billy Joel song, complete with extreme piano usage. Overall, the effect on the room was, "Wow." It's clear that-as from the beginning-Hanson is a rock band with serious cred. These guys have followed up their previous success with impeccably produced pop that Hanson fans will find mesmerizing. Now we just have to make people FORGET all their negative ideas about Hanson, because the guys really deserve a strong reception for this music. Extra trivia: They've recorded 14 tracks, but are expected to whittle that down to 11 or 12 for the final CD. All of the above are set to appear. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED "SPEAKING OUT" ON BEHALF OF HANSON. WE'LL DO OUR BEST TO BRING YOU MORE OF YOUR FAVE GUYZ. Cool, Thanks Hanson Hotel and Alena and Sunny.

12-13-99: ALLPOP POLL RESULTS
Monday, December 13, 1999
Hanson still popular -- The AllPop/Hanson saga is finally over.

12-9-99: ALLPOP [A PRODUCT OF JAM! MUSIC] HANSON POLL
Okay, Allpop is conducting a poll to see if there are any Hanson fans left out here... Here's your chance to prove yourself again guys. The article is here [it's copied below, but if you go to that link there are other articles about Hanson]...
Friday, December 3, 1999
Hanson is old news.
In a recent poll, AllPop readers decided that boy-band Hanson just doesn't cut it anymore. Voters were asked if they still cared about Hanson and out of 131 people, 60% said no. Brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac might not want to hear the poll results considering they're currently putting the finishing touches on their new album. The band might be able to win back some fans though. The new album is supposedly chalk-full of great pop songs with guest appearances by artists like John Popper from Blues Traveler. The yet-untitled album is due out on April 25, 2000.

Now, I don't know what you guys are gonna do, but I had to go over there and vote "YES!". To show we're still here, you have to go to ANOTHER CHANCE FOR HANSON to cast your vote. The results have changed of Dec. 9. Of the 297 votes received, 88% said "yes"!

12-2-99: INFOBEAT: HANSON ALBUM DUE OUT IN SPRING
(Launch) - Hanson, the original teen-pop sensation of the '90s, will make its return to the spotlight with new album slated for release in April. The trio is currently Los Angeles mixing the still-untitled effort, which is described by insiders as "more sophisticated and funky but keeping a pop flair." Brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac composed all the songs and are co-producing the album with Mark Hudson (Ringo Starr, Aerosmith) and Stephen Lironi (Jon Bon Jovi, Black Grape, Fun Loving Criminals). Lironi produced much of "Middle of Nowhere," the soul-pop group's 1997 debut that has sold more than 8 million copies around the globe. Guests on the new set include blues-guitar prodigy Jonny Lang, Blues Traveler harp phenom John Popper, Beck turntablist DJ Swamp and a choir conducted by Sly & the Family Stone member Rose Stone. "What a cool experience to have such a soulful group come in and sing," Zac wrote of Stone on hansonline.com. "It makes you realize how far you have to go." Whether Hanson can repeat its success remains to be seen. The band experienced diminishing returns with the odd assortment of follow-up releases in the last two years. Plus, the top 40 climate has changed drastically since their emergence with "Middle of Nowhere," which arrived at a time when pop fans were tiring of the downbeat tones of grunge. The present-day charts are all about pop and a crowded field of contenders including the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears will likely challenge Hanson for the attention of teenyboppers worldwide. Hanson is expected to support the release with a world tour some time next year.

12-2-99: CHANNEL V UNDERCOVER MUSIC NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT HANSON
This article doesn't have all the newest information, but they posted it on December 2, so I'll pass it on.
"Hanson have parted ways with ex-Cars singer and producer Ric Ocasek and have signed on with Black Grape's Steve Lironi to continue work on their next studio album. Lironi was the producer on the break through release. Ocasek lasted three songs into the recording with the band after an alleged falling out. The album is described as having a more mature, rock feel to it and will be released in the middle of next year. Young guitarist Jonny Lang has also been recuited to rock up the next release. They have so far recorded 17 songs for the yet to be titled album. At the bands official website, the have put out a few fires sparked by global rumours. Firstly, Isaac is not leaving the band to pursue college. Secondly, no-one in the band is going out with Ozzy Osbourne's daughter although they do admit they know her and three: they say they have seen the televised Celebrity Death Matches where they have been killed off and love them."

12-1-99: VH1: "HANSON: HERE COMES THAT DIFFICULT SECOND ALBUM"
Excerpts from article [go to link above to read the whole thing]:
"According to MTV News, the follow-up - provisionally titled Album X - will be released on April 25, 2000. Right now the trio is mixing in Los Angeles. The Hanson Web site says the group will be launching a tour to accompany its release next spring.
Launch also hears from an insider that the new album is "more sophisticated and funky but keep[s] a pop flair." Guests on the record include Blues Traveler's John Popper, Beck's DJ Swamp and blues boy Jonny Lang."

12-1-99: SONIC NET: "HANSON PROMISE ROCK EDGE FOR FIFTH ALBUM
Here are excerpts from the article that you can read in it's entirety by clicking on the link above. Notice Bob Weir's complimentary comment about Zac and his brothers:

"Three years after exploding out of Tulsa, Okla., with a sugary power-pop sound, Hanson — the teenage band composed of three musical brothers — will return in May with a more rock-oriented album, drummer Zachary Hanson said. The still-untitled studio recording was co-produced by the Hansons and Stephen Lironi (Black Grape), according to a source at Mercury Records who requested anonymity. Lironi produced the brothers' 8 million-selling 1997 debut, Middle of Nowhere. A potential title for the album — Hanson's fifth — is Album X, guitarist Isaac Hanson wrote in an Oct. 29 Yahoo! online chat. He added that the trio have recorded 17 songs."

"Despite Hanson's teen appeal, the group has earned respect from an unlikely source: Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. He shared a stage with the brothers in February at the New York club Wetlands, when the trio, who happened to be in town, were brought to Weir's show by their manager. At this cross-generational rock summit, the Hansons bounded onstage midway through Weir's second set and joined him on several Grateful Dead concert staples, including "Going Down the Road," Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" and the Willie Dixon blues staple "Wang Dang Doodle." "That was easily the best 12-year-old drummer I've ever played with," Weir said of Zachary. "It's impossible not to see how talented they are, and how far their potential goes."

11-30-99: JAM MUSIC "HANSON SET YEAR 2000 FOR NEW ALBUM"

11-29-99: FROM MTV NEWS: "HANSON WRAPPING UP NEW ALBUM [11-29-99 16:30 EST]
It's been a long time since we MMMM-Bopped. If you've been wondering where the Hanson brothers have been since breaking through in a big way with their 1997 debut "Middle Of Nowhere," rest assured that they are hard at work and a follow-up is on the way. Isaac, Taylor, and Zach are now in Miami finishing the mixing of their new album, which is set for an April 25 release. An album title has not been chosen yet, but fans can expect to see song titles like "Runaway Run," "This Time Around," and "If Only" amid the tracklisting. Fans will also see blues-rocker Jonny Lang and John Popper of Blues Traveler turning up on the album.

Hanson plans to tour behind the album next summer.

11-23-99: INFOBEAT: NEWS ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM
NEW YORK (Billboard) - "By the time Hanson's new studio album comes out on April 25, it will have been three years since the brotherly trio set legions of prepubescent girls screaming with its 1997 Mercury Records debut, "Middle of Nowhere," which has sold more than 4 million units in the U.S., according to SoundScan. Now, with many of the act's fans having undoubtedly switched allegiances to groups like Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync, Hanson will attempt to do what few teen acts have been able to do: make the transition from teen idols to a pop group that appeals to fans of all ages. A sneak peak at Hanson's new album proves it may have the goods to do it."

The boys opted to take the reins themselves this time out. They wrote all songs by themselves and are co-producing the album with Stephen Lironi, who produced the last album. While some of the songs have a psychedelic bent and show Isaac, Taylor and Zachary Hanson clearly rocking out, the more defined tracks blend their strong pop sensibilities with a move toward a harder, more sophisticated sound. Midtempo rocker "This Time Around" features Taylor and Isaac trading lead vocals wrapped around a funky pop melody, with guitar licks courtesy of Jonny Lang (who plays on two other tracks). Also immediately radio-worthy are "Runaway Run," which sounds like Phil Spector crossed with the Go-Gos and features great harmonies and joyous pop toe-tapper "If Only."

11-16-99: AN ARTICLE FROM BLUESTRAVELER.NET
"The next story reaches BLUESTRAVELER.NET today though it happened a few weeks ago. John Popper joined Zachary, Tyler and Isaac Hanson in the studio to lay down some harmonica tracks for the band's follow up to their smash album Middle of Nowhere. The new album is rumored to be named Runaway Run and will be out next spring. John will be featured on one track, according to fan sites. Popper and the rest of the band met Hanson in early 1998 and the two shared a stage last August 11th, when Blues Traveler was joined by the brothers for a jammed-out rendition of MMMBop."

7-13-99: "ALL CHAOTIC ON THE HANSON FRONT" ~ Rolling Stone Online
There is an article posted at www.rollingstone.com today regarding Ric Ocasek's leaving the production of Hanson's new album. Ocasek described Hanson's new music as much edgier than previous material and he was quoted as saying, "Hanson is the real deal. They're too talented to go away. It's in their hearts. They know what's going on. They know about music. They're great writers and phenomenal singers. They're just getting going. They're gonna be around."

7-10-99: WORLD CUP PERFORMANCE/ALBUM UPDATE
This was posted at 'MusicNewsWire' today: "Oklahoma teen-pop group Hanson have completed three songs for their still-untitled, upcoming sophomore studio album, according to a source at their label. Ex-Cars singer Ric Ocasek (Weezer, Nada Surf) produced the songs in a Los Angeles studio. The group has written more than 20 additional tracks for the record, which will be worked on by a handful of as-yet-unnamed producers. The band performed the national anthem at the finals of the Women's World Cup soccer championships in Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday. The new album from the trio of teen brothers is the follow-up to their eight-times platinum debut, Middle of Nowhere."

7-10-99: YES WE DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Thanks to the continuing and undying efforts of Hanson's fans to support them in whatever capacity they are needed, ABC Sports was convinced that it was a good idea to air Hanson's singing of the national anthem at the Women's World Cup Soccer Finals (even though the camera was mostly on the players, but they're cool too) and here's what Hanson had to say about that at Hansonline: "10-July-1999 -- HANSON sang the national anthem at the Finals of The Women's World Cup Live on ABC. Thanks fans!"
