Albertosaurus

Classification: Carnosauria, Theropoda, Saurischia

Albertosaurus who is closely related to Tyrannosaurus ,only smaller and lived several years earlier, weighed about three tons stood about eleven feet and measured about thirty feet. Albertosaurus was a large carnosaur(meat eater) of the Late Cretaceous North America. It ran on it's hind legs which were very powerful, and had claws on it's feet. More fossils of Albertosaurus have been found than any other Late Cretaceous Carnosaur. Fossils have been found in many areas of the western U.S. and in Alberta Canada where the first remains were discovered.

ANKYLOSAURUS

(ang-KYL-o-sawr-us)

Classification: Ankylosauridae, Ankylosauri, Ornithischia

Ankylosaurus, was a plated dinosaur with a row of short spikes that protected each side of it's body. It lived during the Cretaceous Period in western North America. It was thought to be about 25 feet long 6 feet wide and over 4 feet tall. It probably weighed about 5 tons. Ankylosaurus was a plant eater. It is thought to be one of the last kind of dinosaurs to die out.
