DC Links
God only knows how many DC sites there are out there.
Some are bad, some are good ... here's the very select few
I think are absolutely awesome!
- Dawson's Creek Daily This is it, my favourite DC site of all time! For all the 411 on the show -- rumours, spoilers, gossip, news, photos, weekly ratings, articles and everything else related to DC you could ever want -- this is the place to go. Updated several times daily, with info from lots of people in the know.
- Dawson's Creek Cultural Reference Guide Yes, the kids on DC are highly verbose. Yes, they speak like they all swallowed dictionaries. Yes, they make clever, witty references to pop culture and in-jokes in practically every episode. But have you ever wondered exactly what the heck they're talking about? Consider this site your personal interpreter to deciphering Dawson's Speak. Unfortunately, the site owner has decided not to keep the site going, so only about 40 per cent of all the episodes are accounted for, but I still think it's worth checking out.
- It's Your Creek If your love for the show runs so deep that only a trip to Wilmington, NC will suffice, then you've gotta visit this one! It has everything you could ever need to know (and much more) about how to get to Wilmington, where to stay, good places to see the cast, how to apply to be an extra on the show ... there's even a section where those lucky enough to meet James, Josh, Katie, Michelle et al. can post pics and recount their tales. An absolute must-visit!
- Dawson's Desktop This is just the coolestsite ... set up by the folks at the WB, it's a sneak peek inside Dawson Leery's computer. You can be a virtual voyeur: read his e-mails, snoop in the trash bin, take a look at his journal, eavesdrop on his on-line chat sessions ... sigh ... if only we could do this with ex-boyfriends' computers ... (Note: this link goes to a pre-loading page, which takes up to 2 minutes to load, then you go to a screensaver page, which you click on to get to the Desktop itself. I've never had a problem getting on it, but I know you need to have some plug-ins in your computer -- like ShockWave -- for it to work properly.)
- Capeside Diaries The whole reason you visited my site in the first place is because you like reading fan fic (either that, or you're humouring me, in which case I thank you profusely!). And there are loads of other DC fan fic sites out there, but this one in particular I personally think is outstanding, and well worth a visit. The stories here are well-written, interesting, unique and mature -- several even have R ratings! There are also wonderful episode commentaries that are a little less sarcastic and a little more thought-provoking than the ones by yours truly.
- X Fic: The Creek If you like your fan fic a little (well, maybe a lot) more on the adult side of things, you have to stop by this site. The stories here are all of a very mature nature, and most deal with sexual situations. Definitely not intended for minors!
- The "I Hate Jen" Episode Summaries Though I happily crank out my own summaries every week, these ones are a hoot. Not only do they include word-for-word transcripts, they also include favourite lines, bloopers, reviews, factoids, first-airing dates, and info about the episode's title. And while I don't share the author's um, intense dislike (hate is such a strong word!) for Jen Lindley, his ruthless little zingers regarding her faux-pas and dumb comments during the show are just hilarious.
- Capeside Comics These are brilliant! A very talented guy by the name of Steve Emond has gone to the trouble of turning our favourite Capesiders into a daily comic strip! Very original and very, very cute.
- Joey's Desktop Wow. This is a companion site to the Dawson's Desktop site, run by the people at WB. Only Joey's Desktop is run entirely by fans of the show, and is really well done! Just like Dawson's site, you can read her e-mails, chat sessions, snoop in her trash bin, and take a peek at her journal (which is nowhere near as venomous as Abby's!). Updated every other week.
- NEW! Pacey's Desktop In the same vein as Dawson and Joey, Pacey has now entered the computer world and has his very own Desktop. This too, is a fan-run site, but of the three characters' desktops, I prefer this one the most. The journal entries are perfect -- classic Pacey. There's also the standard e-mails from assorted Capeside characters, including Pacey's boarding school "pen-pal," Hannah Von Wettig (remember her from the beauty pagent in Season One?) The small but dedicated group of fans who run this site have endless imagination and creativity. Highly recommended.
E-mail is a fan fic writer's paycheque!
