This basket cake was two 8" rounds that were frosted with "Whipped Cream" buttercream icing, using the basketweave design in alternating colors. In this case it was creme or ivory, orange, and purple, with vertical white lines. The handle was made by twisting paper rope around wire and then braiding them together. The ends were taped before pushing it down into the sides of the cake. The inside of the basket was filled with marshmellow eggs, buttercream flowers, and chocolate and white chocolate rabbits, in different positions. My husband took this cake to work as a display item for Easter and then later on in the day he and his co-workers ate it. He said he got many offers from people who wanted to buy it and take it home but he wanted it for a treat for everyone.
