Enlightenment 99 - Aug/Sept 2000 The Brethren of Time and Space Yeah, well we just had our latest meeting, the most recent one. We watched Trial of a Time Lord. I was having a good time until one of the other guys kicked me awake. We took this occasion to mark some milestones. It has now been ten full (very full) years since the last real episode got screened in the UK, but at least things have progressed to the point where the repeats can't even get aired anymore. It was also realized that Carole Ann Ford turned sixty in June, and pondering that reduced us to depressed tears. I could at least take some comfort from the fact that she still looks more lively and vibrant than I do. We also took time out for a thirtieth anniversary screening of The Web Planet, primarily because none of us have ever been able to sit through the whole thing and I, for one, wanted to know how it ended. At the very least, I wanted to make it to the end of part four to see if I could recognize the voice and figure out who it is that you can hear laughing heartily when William Russell gets hit with the landslide. Unfortunately, we only made it as far as about the midway point of part one, where William Hartnell completely forgets his lines and stands there for about five solid minutes without saying a word, when we decided it was time to check out The Tonight Show. Jay's guests were Tom Arnold and Sarah Michelle Gellar. After that, we just kept switching around the dial until we found The Equalizer. In tonight's episode, The Equalizer finds himself trapped in a web of deceit and murder. Will he escape? You be the judge. Oh, yeah, good meeting, everyone. Aaron Prokop
