Enlightenment 96 - Feb/Mar 2000 The Brethren of Time and Space Well, once again, our regular meeting was held at Ray's place. Heck, I believe we even watched some Doctor Who stuff, though I forget which ones. I think it was an episode with the one with the funny clothes. One may take note that this particular cult has a new monicker. The leage in question was once known as Cybercontrol but this is now, in fact, a misnomer, which is of course, something that eats cheese, and coincidentally is also the name of my English teacher in the second grade, but let's leave 1942 out of this, and bring 1942 into it. The term Cybercontrol was rendered effectively outmoded some time back as the name of this chapter. Mr. John Darling, the former leader of this particular clan, had some time ago left London, one step ahead of the mob for the fine city of Hamilton (the metropolis immortalized in the classic song "San Francisco, I Love You"). While we would like to have continued using the name Cybercontrol, this could have lead to serious and time consuming legal wrangling with John and my attorneys have their hands quite full enough defending me as it is. Thus a new name had to be selected. The four of us worked as one man (three of us were goofing off) and after the investment of much blood, sweat and tears - but mostly tears, though the blood came in a close second - we decided that a suitable replacement could not be decided on, at least while sober. However we persevered, after which we got back to work, determined to continue frowning ferociously at the list of potential candidates, at least when not perusing the racing forms, over our steaming cups of chicory until a successor could be appointed, or until we stopped trying. Finally, my experience (I think it was mine) as an ex-cult member gave me an inspiration and I hit upon "The Brethren of Time & Space & Pancakes" (the "& Pancakes" was latter dropped), which I'm pretty sure was the name of an old movie which Marc Singer and Barbi Benton. This nomination proved immensely popular, primarily because it was the only candidate, and was hurriedly ratified. With that, I heaved a tremendous sigh of relief at a job well down, knowing that at least I ould sleep nights. We cannot wait to see what adventures the future will bring. Aaron Prokop
