Champlain Crags Access: Route B

Approach: Follow the hang-glider trail for a few meters, until the gravel stops. Then branch to the left on an old cart track going along the base of the escarpment. Keep your eyes open for a small stream which the track crosses. If you spot it, skip the next two sentences. The track ends in a clearing after about 400-500m. The clearing is marked by two very large old trees. Backtrack along the trail for a few meters until you cross back over a small stream (culvert?) (dry in midsummer). Go up the right (south) bank of the stream until the cliffs are visible on the right. Bushwhack up to their base. This will bring you out at the left hand (i.e. the best) end of the crags.

Character: Located almost at the base of the escarpment, underneath Champlain Lookout, this band of crags is very well hidden. Up to 15m high and perhaps 200- 300m long, the crags become progressively more attractive going from right to left.
