Summary: Scully had been wanting to do this for a long time then finally gets up the nerve to ask Mulder for dinner then something…happens.

Authors NOTES!!~ I know that Melissa Scully is dead but just think of this story as what it would be like if Melissa was still alive and was giving Scully advice! =)

For the past five days the X-files team had been filling out paper work and answering questions for A.D. Skinner. Nothing exciting but it was something the team had to do every year. But Scully had a different plan this year. For about 3 months Scully had been more jumpier then ever. Mulder would ask her what's wrong when he came up behind her and scared her but she would always answer that work was kinda getting to her and that she needed to take a vacation. But it wasn't that. She was so jumpy because she finally realized she loved him.
"Um Mulder?" she called nervously.
"Yes?" came the replay from behind the computer.
"Well I was um… wondering if you would um…" She thought bitterly to herself.
"What is it Scully?" He asked getting a little annoyed.
"I was wondering if you… if you would like to come over tonight for dinner or something" < There you finally did it! > She thought happily.
"There was that so hard?" She should her head for a "no".
"But I don't think I can." Her heart sank. "Not unless you want to eat at 4:00 or 4:30"
"Well we could do that. Why not any later though?" She asked curiously.
"I have other things planned tonight that's all."
"Oh ok well I guess I better go then. I have to clean up the house and find something to fix." She added walking to the door with her purse and coat in hand.
"Ok see you at 4:30 is that ok?"
"Yea. Bye." And with that she was gone but on her way out she couldn't help think that Mulder was already with someone else. < Oh God he is seeing Diana again! Or maybe it is Phoebe. No I thought he hated her! Oh well forget about it Dana he will never love you! > She thought to herself sadly.

1 hour later…
Dana's apartment…

"Come on pick up!" she said as she waited for her sister Melissa to pick up on the other line.
"Hello?" Came the muffled greeting.
"Hey Melissa! Could you help me with something?"
" Sure sis what's up?" replied Melissa. "Ok Mulder is coming over tonight for dinner and I need help. What should I fix? What should I wear? You have had a lot of experience with guys haven't you?" Scully asked with a nervous tone in her voice.
"Why Dana what are you planning?" Melissa asked with a sly smile on her face that she wished she sister could see.
"Well… I was um planning to have a nice dinner and then after the dinner was over I was going to… well I- " she was cut off by the sound of her sister laughing. "What?"
"It's finally happening!" Melissa got out between her burst of giggles.
"What?"
"I knew this was going to happen! I knew it! Mom and I had seen this coming for a long time! You love him and you going to tell him tonight after dinner! So when do you think you will plan the wedding?"
"Whoa! What makes you think there will be a wedding? I don't even know if he loves me back and I am taking a very large risk of losing our friendship. In fact I can bet that he doesn't have the same feelings for me and will be mad at me for destroying our bond- friend wise bond I mean. Oh My God! What am I doing I cat do this I have to call him and cancel!" Scully said becoming scared.
"No! Wait! There is something I never told you about what happened when you were abducted. When you came back and were in the hospital, Mulder was so scared that you were going to die and I wet over to his house while he had been crying and that is when I realized how much you mean to him and how much he… well loved you. I told mom about it then she realized it and we have known it ever since. He loves you Dana. And we have always known that you loved him. I think that is one on the reasons Bill hates him so much because he knew that you loved him and was afraid that if you were with him you would get hurt or something." As Melissa explained all this to her sister she could hear that Dana was crying. "What's wrong?"
"So you think I am not making a mistake by telling him?"
"No not at all."
"Ok then what should I wear? What should I cook?"
"Um try fixing something simple. Like maybe chicken and rice or something. And don't dress up just wear a nice shirt and shirt and some khakis. Ok?"
"Ok thanks so much sis. Well I got to go. Love you."
"Ok welcome, bye." And with that she hung up the phone and began going through her things to try and find a pair of khakis. When she finally found them she changed then cleaned the house then laid out some chicken and sat down on the couch. She had planned to start cooking at about 4:00 that way it would give her some time to calm down.
Not but 10 minutes after she sat down did she start to doze off. Within minutes she was asleep.

4:41 PM

: Knock: "Hey Scully? You there?" Mulder had been standing in front of Scully's door for almost 5 minutes. He was beginning you wonder if she was home but he knew she was so he decided to let himself in. "Scully?" he asked quietly when he walked into her apartment. Then he saw her. She was asleep on the couch. He didn't want to wake her but he knew that if he didn't Scully would be mad at him. "Scully. Scully wake up?" She didn't move. Then he got a little to brave. He knew he loved her but he never thought that he would ever get this bold. So finally he did what he always wanted to do. He leaned down to Scully's face. He was only inches from her lips when I paused for a second to make sure she was asleep. She was. So he leaned down even further till his lips were pressed up against hers. Then she woke up. < Oh my god! What is he doing? Wait why should you care? You love him be happy indulge in the moment! > Then she smiled and Mulder realized that she was awake. Her pulled away to see her smiling.
"Why'd you stop?" She giggling.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to do that!" He said a little scared that she was going to be mad at him, then her words that she had said a few moments before hit him. "Wait what did you mean why'd I stop?"
Mulder if you think I am mad at you I'm not. That is why I wanted you to come over here tonight because I not only wanted to have dinner with you I wanted to tell you that… that I love you."
They both looked at each other for a while till finally Mulder broke the silence by saying "I love you too Dana" to her. Then he leaned down to her again and kissed her.
He thought to himself. Then after what seemed life a lifetime they pulled away because of the lack of air.
"I'm sorry but I have to go. I had planned to take my mom out to dinner tonight. That is way I couldn't come over any later." He explained.
"Ok but I'll let you go as long as you promise to come back and you don't tell your mom a thing about what just happened. I want both your mom and mine to find out together. Is that ok?"
She said to him smiling.
"OK" he said giving her a small kiss on her lips. " I love you."
"Ad I you." She said leading him to the door. When he was gone she closed the door and leaned up against the door ad said: "It's amazing how three little words can change your life" Then she walked over to her couch and laid back down waiting for him to come back.
