This was
written during my adolescent angst period. Most of my poetry from that
time was, quite frankly, self-pitying crap. But I always liked this one. It was written
for a very close friend. ALMS Like a bird in
the winter, You fed me, Knowing... The ground was
frozen. Knowing... I would never
come to your hand. Knowing... You did not
need my gratitude. Softly... Like snow
falling on snow. Softly... So not to
frighten me. Softly... As a whispered
"I love you" You threw your
crumbs On to the Cold, hard
ground. And walked
away. Never looking
back, To see if I
followed. Laura S.
