"This Ottawa band is a force to be reckoned with!" - OttawaPlus.ca (Ottawa). January 2008.

"(The Adopted) score points immediately with me by lacking any ambitious pretension to force their style into one genre or another .. Their new album Standing In The Light Of A Shooting Star shows a band that is great at what they do … Guitarist Cheetah Davy Lai can write great riffs but he also isn't afraid to limit his playing during verses to two-note harmonics when the song calls for it, and to forgo solos in favour of peppy melodic riffs and licks during bridges. The lyrics are sentimental and the subject matter is easy for anyone to relate to ...
Take "Happiness is Sitting Next to You" for example. The song contains all the elements that are required for a dynamite radio rock hit: A fuzzed-out guitar riff to open, verses hard not to tap your foot to, bass and drums that kick hard into the chorus, lyrics that are sweet, inspirational and so catchy that it hurts.
I think that all of the tracks here display expert songwriting, considerable talent for arrangement and more than decent performance skills. This disc is a worthy purchase for anyone who enjoys songs that they can bop their head and sing along to."
- Highlights from Sound Opinion Music Review (Vaughan, ON). June 1, 2007.

"These cats hit it hard and fast with an in your face rock on attitude! Some excellent song writing gives this band a kick in the ass most don't have! Dramatic, moving and simple! A fantastic addition to the Canadian bands of our time! With all this attention, be on the lookout for big things from The Adopted." - CatsAsk Music & Entertainment. (Barrie, ON. Canada). Sept 6, 2005.

"The Adopted is on the fast track, with a strong industry buzz and, yes, a cool new video. These guys click -- the performances mesh brilliantly -- they enjoy playing together and you can tell. Well, I can tell. You can think what you want. Lead guitarist/vocalist Cheetah, bassist Anthony Way, and drummer Ryan Dunford are three rock stars just waiting to happen." - Stone Bayliss, U.K. Staff Reviewer for HitClick.net Indie Music Network & BandFreaks.com (Tucson, Arizona. USA). Apr. 12, 2005.

"Outstanding performance .. abundance of passion ... "Singed" possesses everything The Adopted fans have grown to love about these rising stars from Canada. If you were not a fan of The Adopted before, chances are you will be after watching this video. Those already fans, will love them even more." - BandsBackStage.com (California, USA) July 2, 2004.
