"Wednesday June 16 10pm-1am Beatbreakers Smiler impressed Jim so much when he caught them live in Edinburgh, that he immediately invited them to appear on the show. With hints of The Wildhearts, Aerosmith and New York Dolls, the band put on one of the best live shows around."

WHAT an opening. The band delivers a hugely enjoyable blend of unpretentious back-to-basics pop music and mischief that is impossible to ignore. Frontman Hud and lead guitarist Rod, modern day glimmer twins, delivered the sharp end of an exciting collection of catchy tunes, each number laced with infectious hooks and riffs that lost none of its sharp -edged rock. The charismatic Hud swaggers around, stylishly thrashing his glittery Les Paul guitar with a fun-filled energy and unrestrained enthusiasm that captures the vigour and drive of every youngster who has ever played air guitar...."

TRACK-LISTING FOR "SMILER - MELT" :

ALWAYS ON ME (3:45)

A fast-paced opener with the trademark SMILER singalong chorus. A nod to the New York Dolls with the Jet-Boy style handclaps at the close.

THE GET-OUT CLAUSE (4:04)

This has a heavy, moshing riff and some choice feedback splurges.

MELT (2:43)

A glammy, riffy sort of number with a call & response chorus. One of Hud's punky classics.

HOLLYWOOD WEST (3:57)

The boys get the funk ! Listen for the bass playing, Chris gets all Bootsy on us. He also makes his vocal debut - one line. See if you can spot it. Jimi Hendrix style scratching and half tempo guitar solos take the boys into new territory.

ANOTHER DARK NIGHT (2:34)

The lyrics refer to the anger punks were left with as the 80s turned Tory. So what did they do? They got into heroin, of course! Some Keith Moon-esque drumming ensure that this KICKS !

NOTHING NEW (4:20)

Another live favourite. Mid-paced with reggae touches, this develops into a full-on skank by the end, as the boys fade out one by one. This follows the Lovestone E.P. with only the last track having a fade.

The band has been heartened by the highly positive response the new stuff is getting. Who knows, they might even record another one at this rate....

THE BAND NOW HAS SOLD OUT THE 'LOVESTONE' E.P.

THE LADS TAKE A BOX OF CD's TO THEIR GIGS. DON'T BE SHY, MAKE SURE YOU BUY.
