To unlock the Light extra, you must place first on the Lakeside track in Class A.

Good Start
Before the start of each race, press on the Right C button to call up the tachometer. For a good start, rev the engine as close to five as possible, without going over. If you over-rev the engine, the game will automatically set your needle back to one, ensuring a slower start. After you’ve started the race, tap Right C again to switch back to the course map image in the lower right corner.
