Character Name: Odessa
![]() Player: Porsha Age: Around 6,000 years of age Nature: Werebat (sort of a hybrid) Odessa is a werebat, who changes into human/bat form at will and at the full moons. Through some sort of inherited magic, she has survived through the milennia, living through lifetime after life time. She was infected by her identical twin, Mykeala, who was also infected. Personality: Serious-sometimes paranoid. Odessa was never faint-hearted, and likes to cut right to the chase. She's a product of her time, brutally honest, but unlike others of her time, she does have mercy-her heart is one full of compassion for all creatures. You can't beat around the bush with her. She keeps her most vulnerable sides away from view-her eyes never betray her emotions. Description: 5'11", 160lbs, tall, slightly muscular. She's a mixture of Nubian/Egyptian. Her skin is the color of coffee mixed with cream, though she usually looks pretty pale. She has an odd eye color: normally grey, but as her emotions change, they change to a gleaming silver. Full lips, a straight nose, and fine, waist length black hair. She's not drop-dead gorgeous; more odd, and striking than anything else. She usually doesn't dress for attention unless she wants it-her style is very gothic, black black and more black. You usually never see her without some sort of coat or trench, especially when she's giving in to her paranoid tendencies. (The coats are good for carrying her schimitar, a form of sword). Sometimes she uses her lycanthropy to 'play with her looks' and alter her bone-structure. Special Talents/Abilities: She has the ability to fly, or levitate without her wings. When looking into someone's eyes, her inherited attributes of telekinesis/telepathy kick in, and give her some power over those younger than she, but usually little to none on anyone who's not mortal. She must get the person to look into her eyes first, and she'll use their own strengths/weaknesses against them. She never really uses this trait-she was under someone's control for years this way. Her strength is above average, though she usually uses the powers of her mind for any sort of fantastical feat. Odessa is far from indestructible. Her mental status is what holds her in check. Find a button to push or a bad memory to trigger, and she looses all control, being at anyone's mercy. She's been know to be the extreme of the spectrum-going into violent rampages or becoming completely catatonic. Her love of the bottle has also proven to be her downfall at times, reducing her to an animal with a penchant for random violence on the innocent, as well as her loved ones. Background Information: Odessa was born 6,000 years ago to what would be the 'rulers' of a small village in Nubia, an are that existed long ago in Northeastern Egypt. Odessa and her identical twin, Mykeala, were illegitamite-the product of her mother's affair with an Egyptian servant. The king put the servant to death, and was prepared to put the babies to death too, but was stopped by supernatural evidence of their rightful existence as his heirs. (Odessa's 'Goddess'. There's more too this story, and it will be explained later.) Odessa grew to be more of a tomboy than a spoiled brat. When her people waged war with a random band of nomad Egyptians, she fought, only to die by the hands of her sister, Mykeala. This first death brought upon her the magic which has kept her alive through the milennia, but by being bitten, she was infected with lycanthropy as well. The two didn't cancel out for some reason, and thus the present state of Odessa. Infected, scared, and alone, Odessa fled her home, terrified of her twin sister, who had become a monster in all ways possible. She wandered the continent of Africa for the next couple of centuries, and was followed by Mykeala, who wished to see her dead. Her fear of Mykeala kept her from involving anyone in her life for too long. As she wandered, she came upon many adventures, from becoming the concubine of an Indian prince, to suffering through slavery in the early days of the U.S., to a model in Italy in the late 1970s. It was then, while modeling, that she met her first love, Christopher, a graduate student visiting Italy for vacation in the summer of 1971. Christopher was everything to her, and shortly after meeting, they were preparing to be married. They were prepared to leave Milan and marry back in Egypt, where Odessa hadn't been for years, until Mykeala appeared. Mykeala killed Christopher, and in a fit of rage, Odessa killed Mykeala, absorbing everything she ever was into herself. She went mad, living on the streets for years and feeding off the population. These became known as the missing years of her life; she does remember leaving Europe for New York City, where she created her children-a group of people devoted to eradicating evil with their newfound powers. These people became her cult, but the majority of them died in a final battle between various masters of the city. It was then she realised that the killing had to stop. Attempting to move on, she heard of MidnightBay, and immediately relocated with her remaining 'children'-Rojuna, Taju, and Lane. As they settled there, they hoped to move on and find peace. Odessa tries to put the painful memories of the last 100 years behind her. Little does she know that she still has unfinished business, because what she thought she lost is still there, right around the corner...will she accept it?
