Finding Web Tech Support
Looking for Online Technical Information?
Finding tech support on the web can be frustrating. Where do you look? How to
find the information you want? It isn't all that complicated when you break it down to a
few steps.
Check out the manufacturer's web site first.
- They may have a page with frequently asked questions much like the one
you are asking yourself.
- Look to see if there is a Support Area on the manufacturer's web
page. It will contain a wealth of information but most importantly it will have an
email link with a real live person. Don't hold your breath waiting for an immediate
response... it may take up 3 to 5 days to receive a reply.
- Search using keywords of the problem you have. Try the search
engine at the manufacturer's web site first then use your favourite search engine or try
one we have listed in our Link's Page.
- Read their bulletin or news release pages... some manufacturer's post
information here to keep the volume of email down.
Check out the tech
support guy.
- Someone else may have already had the same problem you are having and the
answer may be listed on his news group or bulletin board moderated by the tech support
guy.
Try the Help Channel. In
particular try visiting Ziff Davis.
- The search engine here is awesome. They use computer and technical
magazines as their information basis and a key word search engine.
- While you're here check out the Tip Zone for some good hints.
