There are 190 trap doors built into the stage. 133 are for the candles that rise up during the Phantom of the Opera: Scene 4, the Labyrinth Underground. |

The Chandelier

-The Chandelier weighs 1200 pounds and took 15 people 3 months to build. -It has 32000 individual beads. -Illumination is provided by 56 light bulbs and 8 flash bulbs for a total of 1850 watts at 12 volts. -The chandelier at the Pantages Theater (Toronto) is the fastest falling chandelier at 5.5 seconds. The Broadway one falls at 8.3 seconds. It drops at a steep 30 feet before reaching the stage. -The chandelier is made of steel, vacuform plastic,copper and brass, and acrylic materials. -It is regularly inspected for safety and the double-rigging system is able to sustain 2400 pounds of weight. |
