Show Report: The Husdon, Hamilton
February 13, 1999

My first Rusty Nails gig in almost three months. Too long a wait!

In the band's previous Hamilton stops, they played the quaint (meaning very small) La Luna. The Hudson isn't much bigger, but at leats the sightlines are better.

The big news from the show was the new bari sax player. I don't know if he's an official Rusty Nail yet or what, but he was there anyways. He looked REALLY young, and was a pretty decent sax player (didn't play any violin though!).

My hilights of the show:
- a revamped setlist, much of the violin songs were dropped except for "Turpentine", and songs like "Ghostwriting" were added
- they also played the Valentine's Day favorite, "Airports of the World", which I learned the title to last night
- Ron's hair is back to it's usual color, for those of youstill keeping score at home
- they did "Motel 30", but it was the 'Excess version', as compared to the traditional version I've heard them play before
- "Patatas Bravas" is back in the set! Nobody got up and danced, though.

All in all, the band was lacking a little energy, but it was forgiveable as they played Montreal the night before, and Guelph the night before that. I'd still take the Rusty Nails on their worst day over any other band on their best.

No new songs to report, just some clarified lyrics to some of the newer ones (be sure to check out the lyrics page)
