Show Report: The Casbah @ La Luna, Hamilton
March 23, 2001

Ron Hawkins and the Rusty nails returned to Hamilton March 23, but at a new venue, The Casbah @ La Luna. Whereas thier previous regular venue, The Hudson, had a dance club downstairs to compete with aurally, The Casbah had no sonic interference. On the other hand, The Casbah is a lot smaller than The Hudson and features worse sightlines. Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess. Ultimately, I'm just happy the Nails still find their way to Hamilton!

The set itself featured a few songs off Secret of my Excess (Taboo, Wrecking Wall) some off of Greasing the Star Machine, which was referred to as the "shitty album" (Suffer Me, Psycho/Superstar, Suffering in Mink, St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Be My Alibi), almost all the songs off Crackstatic, and everyone's favorite, Turpentine!

My hilights of the show:
- hell, it was the first Nails show I'd been to in a long, long time! (check out the show reports page to see how long). In fact, it was the first Nails show I've seen with Derek on bass. Bottom line, it rocked and I was just happy to be there, it had been way too long!

Even though the guys were coming off a cross-country tour, an energetic show that was great to be at, even if you couldn't see it!
