Show Report: The Horseshoe, Toronto
May 27, 2000

The Rusty Nails returned to the legendary Horseshoe taven for their last show before entering the studio to record their second album. The guys all seemed to be in a great mood, which translated into an amazing show. The show itself was almost 2 hours, with band members begging Ron to finish the set before they collapsed!

The Nails played several newish songs, including "Rumours & Whispers" featuring just Ron and his guitar, "Bite Down Hard", and the brand spankin' news "Perfect Chemistry", which is the 2nd Rusty Nails song to feature Lawrence on harmonica. The set itself featured (in no particular order):
- Taboo
- Wrecking Wall
- Suffer Me
- Psycho/Superstar (which has been absent from the set for a while)
- Immutable
- Pokerface (which Ron's dad requested early in the set, and eventually was the last song played)
- Suffering in Mink
- Be My Alibi
- Small Victories (which Ron dedicated to the Weakerthans, as he jokingly admitted he ripped them off on it)
- Turpentine
- Terminal City (another song I haven't heard in a while)
- Roja
- Who's Gonna Drop That Bomb?
- Little Backstabber
- Guttering
- Beat Me Senseless
- Euphoria
- Convenient
- Crackstatic
- Just What I Needed (the Nails once again proving they can make any song rock!)
- Rumours & Whispers
- Bite Down hard
- Perfect Chemistry
- Big Blue Devil (which hadn't been done in so long even the band wasn't sure they remembered it!)

As the marathon show went on, Chris started contributing more and more backup vocals, which made Ron miss a few lines because he was laughing. Chris also announced that Julie Penner was in the crowd, and it was "rare that they get a celebrity in the house", which got Chris the finger!

On a sadder note, Ron announced towards the end of the night that Michael has to leave the band as he is moving to Quebec in September. The capacity crowd gave him a standing ovation for all he's done over the past five years. Here's hoping the Nails can find a replacement that's even half the musician that Michael is.
