Show Report: The Tralf, Buffalo
April 22, 2000

The Rusty Nails broke their long performing hiatus at the Tralf in Buffalo. It was our first Buffalo show, and I was eager to see if the reports of the legendary Buffalo crowds were true.

Danko Jones opened the show with a lot of high energy songs about stealing your girl, doing it with your girl, the car he was gonna do it in, etc. If Danko plays near you, go check them out!

After watching the Leafs win in OT, the Nails took the stage. They opened with Crackstatic, and it was immediately clear that the crowd missed the guys during the last few months! The Nails ran through most of their favorites, including Suffer Me, Immutable, Pokerface, Suffering in Mink, Be My Alibi, Turpentine, Terminal City, Roja, Guttering, Little Backstabber, Convenient, and Euphoria. Julie Penner also joined the guys for Partners in Crime, Small Victories, Ghostwriting, and (Waitin' On) My New Heart.

My hilights of the show:
- they played a new song, "Bite Down Hard"
- for those of us who missed the New Year's Eve show, the guys played Just What I Needed (by the Cars), and Dogs of February with Lawrence on vocals!
- although they do charge a hefty ticket price, The Tralf really is a nice venue.. don't let the neighborhood fool you!
- found out firsthand that Buffalo crowds really do rock, and I didn't hear even one Low song title yelled out!

I just hope the next Rusty Nails show doesn't involve a border crossing!
