The "Everything He Ever Wrote Acoustic Revue" Tour

The second stop on the acoustic tour was the Rivoli in Toronto. A thousand thanks to Sarah who picked me up a pair of tickets to the sold-out show. 2 sellouts in 2 nights, I hope Ron doesn't decide to do this full-time!
I must steal a little from Now Magazine's writeup advertising the show:
"Heads up, you losers who perennially holler for Lowest of the Low songs at Ron Hawkins and the Rusty Nails gigs. For one night (and one night ONLY), the insanely gifted local singer/songwriter is leaving the band at home to hit the Rivoli..." Well put, Now!
Unlike the previous night's show in Guelph, this sellout looked it. It looked WAY oversold, in fact. Due to a combination of the cramped, sweltering conditions and a lack of sleep from the previous night's show, I had to bail at 1 am in order to be in any condition for the ride home. So take that into mind when reading!
The stage featured large pictures of Ron's Lowest of the Low, solo, and Rusty Nails album covers. The set that I saw/heard was virtually unchanged from the previous night, with the exception of the addition of "7th Birthday", and a cover of a Weakerthans song (sung magnificently by Lawrence) but the name of which escapes me now.
The show also featured the addition of a cellist, whose name I can't remember but he did the earlier acoustic show with Ron, Lawrence and Julie and as soon as I track it down I'll put it right where you're reading here!
My hilights of the show:
- Toronto crowds always have the most energy (maybe except for Buffalo crowds), and it gave the show a good vibe
- to my surprise, although the Low songs did get the largest reaction, there were substantial cheers for mentions of the Rusty Nails and their songs
- Ron's stage banter was as good as ever, he even talked during songs!
If anyone can tell me what I missed after 1 am, gimmie an email!
