Story: Jack Foley (George Clooney) is a convict at a prison in Florida. When he decides to escape, he encounters US Marshal Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez) who he kidnaps on his way out. He steals her gun (given to her by her Dad), so starts her chase to arrest him and get back her gun. Of course along the way she finds herself very attracted to him and when she finds him, she ends up in bed with him.
My opinion: I think it's an excellent film, it has humour, it has action, it has style and it doesnt even have any lovey dovey romance! It has a fairly quick-paced story, but maybe it slows down a bit in the middle. It soon picks up pace though and you end up wishing you could see it all over again. And yes the critics were right, this is hopefully George Clooney's breakthrough movie, after his dismal performance in Batman and Robin, The Peacemaker and One Fine Day, he has finally made it. This film is very similar to Pulp Fiction in style, but with slightly less violence. It also has good photography with the way the film freezes in parts and then starts up again. This film deserves the two Oscars that it has been nominated for (Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay). It has clever humour that can beat some films that are supposed to be comedies. There are too many good bits to name a favourite and they never sound as good as if you were watching the film. It has an excellent twist at the end which is totally unexpected. You're going to enjoy this film whoever you are, but you'll particularily like this if you're fans of Clooney, Lopez, Steven Soderbergh or Elmore Leonard's. So rent this film as soon as it comes out!
Best quote: Foley (George Clooney) : It's like seeing someone for the first time, and you look at each other for a few seconds, and there's this kind of recognition like you both know something. Next moment the person's gone, and it's too late to do anything about it.
