Disclaimer: Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Skinner, and The X-Files belong to Chris Carter, 1013 Productions, and the Fox network. I am not making any money off this story.
Author's Notes: This is my first attempt at fanfic, please understand that I'm no Newberry Award winner! I want to take this time to dedicate this story to my friend, Jessica, who got me obsessed with the X-Files. If it hadn't been for her, I never would have seen the X-Files, and I never would have seen what a great relationship Mulder and Scully have.

At 1:00 am on Valentine’s Day, Mulder warily knocks on Scully’s door. A moment later, Scully answers the door.
"Mulder! It’s one o’clock in the morning!" She cries. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Happy Valentine’s Day." Mulder says, handing her a box of chocolate.
"Is that why you’re here, Mulder?" Scully asks in an annoyed tone of voice as she accepts the candy. "That’s very sweet and all, but couldn’t it wait?"
"Actually, we’ve just been called in to investigate some mass murderer." Mulder explains. "He’s killed four people in the last hour, two in Hartford and two in Salt Lake City. ‘Goes by the name of Cupid."
"Mulder, how can one person possibly kill four people that are half a country apart in an hour?" Scully asks.
"That’s what we have to find out. Go get dressed. I’ll explain in the car." Mulder says solemnly, stepping inside the door.
Scully runs into her room to change. Five minutes later, Mulder and Scully are in the car driving towards the airport.
"Mulder, where the hell are we going?" Scully asks, exasperated.
"Hartford, Connecticut. According to Skinner, every Valentine’s Day some guy who claims he’s Cupid goes around killing couples by sticking an arrow through their bodies."
"If he does it every year than how come we haven’t heard about it before?"
"In the years past, local police have handled it and tried to cover it up."
"Why are we going to Michigan? If he killed someone in Hartford and Salt Lake City in under an hour, he’ll be somewhere else by the time we get there!"
"Scully, I know nothing about this case. We’re supposed to investigate in Hartford and if anything comes up, we’ll go on that. If not, we’ll head for Salt Lake City."
"Some way to spend Valentine’s Day."
At 2:45 am, Scully and Mulder arrive at the scene of the crime, the Dawson house in Hartford, Connecticut.
"Excuse me," Scully says to a police officer as she takes out her badge. "I’m special agent Dana Scully and this is my partner Fox Mulder. We were called in to investigate."
"Please do!" The officer cries. "This is the forth time it’s happened over ten years!"
"That’s interesting." Scully says, deep in thought. "I want you to get me some information on the past cases."
"I’ll get right on it. You’ll find the bodies in the room at then end of the hall."
"Thanks," Scully says to the officer, and she and Mulder hurry off to the room.
"Oh my God!" Mulder cries, starring at the couple lying lifelessly next to each other with an arrow tying them together. Scully puts on a pair of gloves and gets out a plastic bag. She tries to remove the arrow, but it is stuck. Then she tries to break the arrow, but it doesn’t even bend.
"Mulder, give me a hand with this, will you?" Scully asks.
Mulder tries to get the arrow out but also fails. "It’s really in there. That couldn’t have been done by a human." Mulder said, astonished.
"Mulder, don’t jump to conclusions. We need more evidence!" Scully the sceptic said.
Just then, another police officer came into the room. "Here’s the information you ordered from Officer Delancy. I’ve been informed that there has been another murder by Cupid, this time in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
"Come on, Mulder, we’re going to Harrisburg." Scully tells Mulder. Then she turns to face the officer. "I want an autopsy done on these bodies and sent to me the minute they’re done. Get that arrow out and send that to me, too!"
Mulder and Scully arrive at the Harrisburg Community Hospital at 5:30am.
"Why did they move the bodies to the hospital so quickly?" Mulder asks the head doctor on duty at the hospital. "They were supposed to let us investigate first!"
"This is the tenth year this has happened here, and all the years I’ve never been told to leave the bodies there."
"Let me see all the information on the case." Scully demands.
"And who are you to tell me what do?" The doctor cries furiously.
"Dana Scully, special agent." Scully says, flashing her badge. "This is my partner.
"Fox Mulder, special agent." Mulder says, his badge joining Scully’s.
With this, the doctor hands over a clipboard and leaves.
"Hey Mulder, this is strange." Scully says. "It says here that the couple died at 1:30 am. How come we weren’t told about it until 3:15?" Mulder rejuvenated with this information runs down the hall after the doctor, but the doctor is gone. Mulder’s pager goes off, and it’s Skinner. Mulder grabs his cell phone, punches in Skinner’s number and speaks briefly with the man. When Mulder gets off the phone he says to Scully, "There’s been another double murder by Cupid."
"Where this time?" Scully asks.
"Springfield, Illinois."
"Let’s go."
On the plane to Springfield, Scully gets a call.
"Scully," She says into her cell phone. When she gets off a moment later, she says to Mulder,
"They couldn’t get the arrow out, and the interior of the bodies have completely disintegrated."
Mulder and Scully arrive in Springfield at 7:30am. They hurry to the scene of the crime. "Dana Scully, special agent." Scully says at the exact same time as Mulder says,
"Fox Mulder, special agent."
They flash their badges towards the officer.
"Go on in. We arrived about two hours ago, but were told not to touch anything until you got here." The young officer informs them.
"Thank you." Mulder says, and Mulder and Scully head in.
There are two bodies lying next to each other on the bed in the master bedroom, tied together with an arrow.
"This is the exact same scenario as in Connecticut. It won’t do us any good." Scully says.
"Scully, wait!" Mulder cries, pointing at a spot of blood on the floor. "What’s that?"
"A clue! I’m gonna analyse this." Scully says. "While you’re doing that, I’ll go over the case."
Mulder replies. They sit there for awhile, and then all of a sudden, the both jump up,
"Oh my God!" the both cry. "Mulder this blood contains inhuman characteristics!" Scully cries.
"Wait until you see what I found!" Mulder cries. "Okay, think of the states this ‘Cupid’ has murdered in so far today: Connecticut, Utah, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. C.U.P.I! There’s only one letter missing."
"So where do we go?"
"Delaware. Dover, Delaware."
Mulder and Scully arrive in Dover at 9:30am.
"Where do we go now? There’s been no report of a murder!"
"I have a feeling we might be here a little longer than the rest of the places. Let’s check into a hotel."
Mulder and Scully check in and sit on Mulder’s bed trying to find out where to go.
"Scully, this isn’t working!" Mulder cries.
"You’re the one who dragged us out here, not me." Scully retorts.
All of a sudden, a short, naked boy with wings and a bow and arrow appears.
Scully screams.
Mulder puts one arm protectively around Scully and grabs his gun with the other hand.
Scully wiggles out of Mulder’s protection and grabs her gun as well.
"Federal agent!" She cries.
"Scully, it’s an alien! It’s not afraid of the FBI!" Mulder explains.
"Do you think you can shoot me?" The alien says in a devilish voice. "My weapon is ten times as powerful as yours!"
"What do you want?" Scully asks, with fear and terror in her voice.
"I want you humans to understand! There are good aliens, and they’re bad aliens. I’m a bad alien. A good alien made you two fall in love, but you don’t want to admit your love for one another. It’s couples like you that must be destroyed." The alien roared, raising is bow.
Mulder and Scully stare into each other’s eyes.
"I love you, Dana." Mulder says softly.
"I love you too, Mulder." Scully responds.
"You can call me Fox, Dana."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"I love you, Fox." Scully serenades, and with that, they kiss.
When they stop ten minutes later to come up for air, the alien is gone. Mulder and Scully blush deeply and stand up, only to see a short stubby arrow on the ground next to them.
