Even as a small child of 5, I could absorb a lot of things going on around me. Just because I was young, I wasn't stupid. The adults in the congregation treated me like an equal whereas the "worldly" adults tended to talk down to me. These "brothers" and "sisters" respected, valued, and loved me. They even would have bible studies with me from time to time out of the books made for children. Listening To The Great Teacher and Paradise Lost And Regained.

My mom was gung ho about getting as involved as she could with the witnesses. She was not only meeting her time, but making a regular habit of exceeding the requirements. The more efforts she made, the greater the praise she would get from her new family. They paid a lot more attention to her than my father who was busy trying to support us.

Eventually, my dad started to realize how much time my mom was spending with the witnesses. He then realized my mom was actually going door to door bothering the neighbors and dragging us kids along with her. He forbid her from going door to door. He also requested her to stop going to so many meetings.

My mom's natural reaction was to run to the elders and the woman she studied with for answers. They convinced her that this was a plot from Satan to try and drag her away from the "truth". The end was near and Satan was desperate for getting Jehovah's people out. They said that there would be conflict, even in the homes of the believers. If you wanted to survive Armeggeddon and live in paradise, you must stand strong against such little tribulations. Jehovah is higher than your husband. You must do Jehovah's will, not your husband. And it couldn't hurt if your children were more well behaved. They fidget too much and whine out in service. You must control them better or you will be an easy target for Satan through your children.

Yikes!
