ok, so i finally saw this movie. and i knew before i even saw it that it was going to piss me off, and boy did it ever piss me off!! so here i go. beware, if you don't like bitching, you may want to hit the back button NOW!!
This COULD of been a great documentary, it COULD of had great potential. but they interviewed THE WRONG PEOPLE!!! You can't make a documentary on Kurt Cobain by interviewing people who have never even met the man!! The bulk of interviews were with Tom Grant and Courtney Love's father! Courtney's father NEVER met kurt cobain, yet he wrote a book about him!! How does that work!! in my opinion, both tom grant and courtney's father are just trying to get some money out of this situation, and some publicity as well. and they are doing a damn good job doing it! But i dont think anything these two have to say is worth anything. Exspeacilly when all they were doing was trying to descredit courtney. They are calling Courtney Love a gold digger, and that may be so, but they are just as bad!!
This documentary started out in the right way. but i think Nick Bloomfield became bitter when courtney tried to stop him from making it. So he made it just to spite her and for revenge. this made the movie BAD!! He made her look even worse than he was going to when she tried to stop him from making his movie. i think courtney love made a mistake when she tried to stop the production of this movie with her money and lawyers. Otherwise, we would of seen BOTH points of views on kurt's death, and maybe we would of heard from someone who stood up for courtney love. i wish courtney love would of just let herself be interviewed! they would not of disgraced her so, at least she would of been able to stick up for herself!! But she refused. So everyone goes and assumes that this is because she has something to hide and because she must of killed her late husband. Why can't any of you see!!! Put yourself in Courtney Love's position. You talk about your husbands death a thousand times in interveiws, you repeat the same things over and over for different reporters or magazines. After you talk about the suicide of the person you loved so many times, after you talk about your drug addiction so many times, after you talk about all the aweful things that happened in your past so many times, you start to get sick of it!!! you just want to forget it, and move on with your life! You don't want to talk about it any more, because you have talked about it for 3 years non stop!! So what does courtney love do?? She gets her lawyers in to make a piece of paper that reporters have to sign before interviewing Courtney that promise not to bring up certain topics. i can understand why she would do this!!! Why can't Nick Broomfield!!
There were some good things about this movie. It was nice when they interviewed Kurt Cobain's aunt, and also a close friend of Kurt and Courtney's. And it is interesting to note, the two people interviewed that actually KNEW kurt and courtney do NOT think courtney killed him!! Yet the people who really knew nothing about the couple say she must of! Do i see a pattern forming here!!!! Ok, sure Courtney Love is not the best person in the world. She is loud, she's a drama queen, she's really annoying and violent. Ok, i would not want to be her friend, that is for sure! But these things do not make someone a MURDERER, they make someone a BITCH!! And no one deneys that Courtney is a bitch, i'm not denying it! She's not denying it!! but BITCH does NOT equal MURDERER!! i repeat, Just because you are a bitch does not make you capable of murder!! i dont care how extravagant courtney love is. i dont care how famous or rich she wanted to be. that does not mean she is a killer.
I would of liked to see someone like Eric Erlandson interviewed about this situation. Think about it. He has known Courtney and been great friends with her even before she met kurt cobain. he was there through it all. Before kurt died, and after, and he witnessed A LOT of stuff. I wonder if he thinks Courtney Love killed her husband? he would know more than any other, right? Yet he obviously does not think she killed him, or he would not still be in her band or her good friend. He would of taken off by now.
There was another part in this movie where they interview some guy who claims courtney offered him 10 000 $$ to kill kurt cobain. and you know what? this guy is so ridiculous, just the sight of him is laughable!! He is the ultimate white trash who came from a band who sings a song called "you are my sex slave." it even shows a clip of his video, and it is so....hilarious!! Trashy! and Horrible! He probably said this just so he could get some publicity for himself and his shitty band!
This documentary NEEDED to show BOTH perspectives. They needed to show interviews with courtney right after kurt died when she WOULD talk about it and when she DID talk about it. Not just show her ex-boyfriend talking about how much he hates her because she fucked him over. They should of talked to the close friends of Courtney Love who care for her. Not her father talking about how much of a gold digging, drug addict, motivated bitch she is and how much he hates her. oh no, i'm sorry. Her father doesn't hate her. He loves her and wants to see his grand-daughter. Yet he calls his own daugher a murderer on a documenray. Whatever.
There is a part on the movie that has a recording of Kurt and Courtney making death threats to some writter. I guess this writter is the girl who went through their garbage to find stuff about them so she could write a book. and she lied about them and stuff. So courtney calls her and leaves this scary message on her machine. and after you hear kurt cobain threatening to kill this girl if he hurts his wife again by lying about her. This is the proof that despite the fact Courtney Love was and IS a mega-bitch, he LOVED her. He LOVED her all you fucking nirvana fans who hate courtney love but worship kurt cobain. If you think the man is such a GOD, and if your so willing to worship him and call him a genius, dont you think he is smart enough to marry someone he loved and trusted. Dont you think your GOD would really let himself be killed by his wife?? Do you think your all knowing and all seeing god kurt cobain would not be able to tell if his wife wanted him dead?? This whole thing pisses me off!
kurt and courtney had a weird relationship. They would fight a lot, throw things at each other, threaten divorce and fist fight with each other, choke and strangle each other. But despite all that, they LOVED each other. People say before kurt died they planned to divorce, so this would make courtney go and kill him. They threatened divorce thousands of times, so why would this one be any different??
For once, just ONCE, i would like to see an intelligent movie made about Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. They were interesting indeed, and a movie on them would be great! But i would like to see one that showed both sides of the spectrum. I want it to include the theries of tom grant, but also the story as it was told by courtney love herself in interviews back from 1994, 95. I want to see Kurt's own mother being interviewed and her perspective of it all. i want to see Eric Erlandson's views on things, i want to see all sides. not just one side. not just tom grant's side. This movie puts Courtney Love in a bad light for sure! And this is not because of hard cold facts! this is because of a lack of facts! Kurt and Courtney is from only one perspective, the perspective of Tom Grant and Courtney's father. If you are one of those poor souls who believe everything you read and see and hear, than fine. You go on and believe that Courtney Love is a murderer. But dont send me your fucking email, dont post your fucking posts on my message board. Dont tell me what a god kurt cobain was, and what a bitch courtney was for ruining him. Don't tell me this, because i have heard your perspective on it. I don't care any more. This is my views on it. I dont want email on this matter any more!! it was over 5 years ago, and let me tell you Courtney Love is never going to prison for the murder of kurt cobain. NO matter how many cheesy documentaries are made, and no matter how much any of you hate her and blame her.
As for Nick Broomfeilds documentary, that is all it was. It was cheesy. Very Cheesy.
