Chapter 18

The phone rang loudly. "Hello?" I said, picking up the reciever.

"Sophia, is that you?" Tara asked from the other end.

"Yeah." I said drearily.

"You sound weird." she said.

"Yeah, well, you woke me up. That might have something to do with it."

"Maybe." Tara joked. "Well, anyway...guess what happened?"

"What?" I asked, half way falling back asleep. I had a feeling that Tara was getting ready to drone on about some boy I'd never even met. I figured it would last long enough for at least a short nap.

"Ashton asked me out." Tara said gleefully.

"Really?" I said. "I thought you and Zac were an item."

"Well we are." Tara said. "But Zac has a cold and there's a big party tonight and Ashton asked me to go with him, so I asked Zac what he thought and he said he didn't mind if I went with Ashton, so I'm going to a party tonight with him...Isn't that cool???"

Gees, that girl is so hyper. She didn't even stop to take a breath. "Yeah Tara, that's great. Now do you mind if I go back to my nap?"

"Actually, I was wondering if you would PRETTY PLEASE come over here and help me get ready. PLEASEEEEEEEE!!!" she begged.

"Tara, it's just a date for heavens sake. You don't need my help." I said in an annoyed voice.

"Yes, I do. Pretty please, Sophia. I'd do it for you!" she whined.

I knew full well she wouldn't ever get up from her beauty sleep to help me get ready for some measly date, but hey, I was a good friend, so I said, "Sure."

"Yay!" she cheered.

Then a thought dawned on me. "Wait, I can't. Drew and Isaac are taking me out to dinner tonight. They'll be here in about an hour and a half, so I need to get ready myself."

"Oh, okay." she said.

I could tell she was disappointed. Oh well, I thought, she's disappointed me before. "Talk to you later." i said, and hung up.
