Peggy (Luxton) Rafuse
Marathon, Ontario

Occupation: Homemaker
Years in the Canyon: 1954-1971
Married To: Victor Rafuse

Here is a brief update of my life happenings since I left the Canyon approx. 30 years ago.

I moved to Timmins in Mar. 1971, got a job soon after working for Dome mines in the accounting department and started dating Victor Rafuse in Oct. that same year. We married in May 1973 and are still happy and together almost 28 yrs.later. When I had my first daughter, Erin, in Nov 1974 I quit my job at the Dome in order to raise my family. In June 1976 we had our second daughter, Shannon, while were living on the Pamour property. In Feb 1977 Victor got a job in Elsa, Yukon and we moved up there with great enthusiasm. After the mine up there shut down in May 1983 we moved back to Timmins area for a job at Detour. As soon as the Hemlo mines opened up near Marathon, Victor moved us all here where we remain today. I have held odd jobs on and off over the years as a way to keep myself busy. I am now just happy to be a homemaker and help my daughter Erin by looking after the 3 grandchildren she has given us, so she can work. Our other daughter, Shannon, is currently living and working in Alberta.

While Victor and I enjoyed raising our girls we are also now enjoying our independence. We are motorcycle enthusiasts. We used to ride before we had our family and now enjoy riding again since they have grown. We have a touring machine and we have gone out to B.C, Alta, and all parts in between. We have done considerable amounts of riding in this area and also in southern Ont.
