- ...And you will know us by the Trail of Dead "Source Tags & Codes" - Totally melodic, intense and more twists and turns than the Loop
- Broken Social Scene "You Forgot it in People" -A loveletter to the Toronto indie scene.
- K-OS "Exit"- Fellow YorkU Alumnus redefines what hip hop/music is.
- El-P "Fantastic Damage" -Part of the Company Flow crew, El-P comes up from the underground and drops one astonishing lyrically based album filled with fractured beats.
- Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Yanqui U.X.O." - Their music has mellowed, but they still haven't sold out.
- Talib Kweli "Quality" -Edutainment!
- The Roots "Phrenology" -The best hip hop crew creates the one they'll be remembered for
- Fly Pan Am "ceux qui inventent n'ont jamais vécu (?) " - Post Rock that you can dance to!
- Wilco "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" -We've been in love with them ever since '96 and finally more people are catching on!
- Boards Of Canada "geogaddi" -The Best Electronic Album in a long time. (no, they are not Canadian)
- Doves "The Last Broadcast" - The finest album from the UK this year
- DJ Shadow "The Private Press" - Not as good as ...endtroducing...but still incredible
- Neil Halstead "Sleeping on Roads" -Put this on before you go to sleep, or right when you wake up...watch the sparks fly...
- Polmo Polpo "Science of Breath"- Haunted/techno/ambient soundscapes
- The Flaming Lips "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" -the follow up to The Soft Bulletin, finds the Lips still in fine form musically and lyrically....do you realize?
- Gentleman Reg "Make Me Pretty" - One of the finest young voices making music today
The Worst Album of the year....
- The Vines "Highly Evolved" -An embarassment to their continent...representing everything that's wrong with the music business today
