Overview:
       A newer design first fielded by House Wakareji (now Naraku), the swift and deadly Stormchaser has quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the air.  The Wakareji carefully guarded the secret of their fighter against the SPCM and other Houses, but with House Naraku's rise to power, the Stormchaser has begun to be distributed throughout the Storm Phoenix Combine.

Capabilities:
        The Stormchaser boasts a speed equal to the lighter Stormbolt, plus superior armor and weaponry.  Much of the striking power comes from the two wing-mounted gauss rifles, augmented by the sidecar medium lasers.  The PPC on the nose also sees extensive use, but many pilots are reluctant to use the pulse laser mounted under the nose.  The placement causes firing this weapon to heat up the cockpit much more than is normal, and scientists have yet to find a solution to the problem that does not involve removing the weapon or interfering with the craft's aerodynamics.  Stormchaser pilots consider the pulse laser a last resort.

Deployment:
       The Stormchaser is relatively scarce, but many of the older Athena fighters are being replaced with Stormchasers when they are destroyed, so the Stormchaser is expected to become much more numerous soon.  It is also thought that the Stormbolt may be phased out in favor of this design, but commanders consider this a very unlikely scenario.
