Overview:
The Quasar Hawk was designed to complement the Clash Hawk, using new technology
to field a long-range nightmare. Stress problems have held up the
Quasar Hawk's production, however, and none have been successfully produced
as of yet.
Capabilities:
Not as heavily armored as it could be, using both the new XXL engine and
composite internal structure, the Quasar Hawk's priority is clearly not
defense. This is justified, however, by the extreme-range weaponry
mounted on the Quasar Hawk's chassis: three extended-range PPCs and a gauss
rifle, a perfect inversion of the Clash Hawk design. Simulator runs
show that the hunched shape of the Quasar Hawk also makes it surprisingly
difficult to hit, but more frustrating to opposing pilots is the surprising
speed at which the huge Mech is capable of moving. The Quasar Hawk
is jump-capable as well, making it even more manueverable than many lighter
designs. This Mech does tend to run a bit hot, but a cautious pilot
can keep their heat under control--at least until finished pounding an
opponent (or several) into scrap.
Deployment:
The Quasar Hawk is not deployed as of yet, as none have been produced,
but they are expected to be paired with Clash Hawks in the various Striker
Regiments.
