Overview:
While driving off a brutal attack from the Wolves on their homeworld of Akili, House Hashiba's aerospace forces staged a daring strike against Wolf fire-support Stars and destroyed, among other things, a large amount of Adder OmniMechs.  At the end of the war Hashiba home guard Mechwarriors, as well as members of the Akili Striker Regiment, expressed admiration of the Adder's capabilities.  After studying the salvaged Mechs, Hashiba scientists succeeded in reverse engineering the Adder, and built it into a new Mech: the Enigma.

Capabilities:
Like most Storm Phoenix mechs, the 55-ton Enigma is swift for its size, topping out at nearly 100 kph.  It also carries jump jets in the base chassis, giving the Mech excellent manueverability.  The Enigma is built very low to the ground, with a very compact design that makes it difficult to hit.
The primary configuration stems directly from that of the Adder: twin ER PPCs and four extended-range small lasers.  Extra heat sinks are included, but the configuration does still tend to run hot when all weapons are fired, so pilots must exercise caution.
The A variant replaces the primary's PPCs with large lasers, clearing enough room to mount a targeting computer.  This makes this configuration a highly accurate long-range fighter.  At close range the Enigma A relies on SRM packs for its main firepower.
The B variant focuses on accuracy, carrying large pule lasers in the arms and small pulse lasers in the torso. Unusual for the Enigma, this configuration also has hand actuators--the arm-mounted lasers are underslung on the wrists.
Originally meant solely for fire support, the C variant is surprisingly effective on its own as well.  The arms carry heavy LRM racks with sufficient ammunition for prolonged skirmishes, and when the ammo does run dry, enemies must still face the quartet of extended-range medium lasers in the Enigma's flanks.
The D variant is a new configuration that is unique to House Naraku.  This configuration carries light autocannon in each arm, an Ultra in the right and an LBX in the left.  These weapons are backed up by an assortment of lasers.

Deployment:
The Enigma sees widespread use in Houses Hashiba, Naraku, and Rikugou, with other Houses fielding a handful each.  The central military does not use the Enigma, making it the only OmniMech exclusive to the Houses.

Other Notes
Lacking knowledge of the correct name, the clans refer to the Enigma as the Anaconda, presumably because of its resemblance to the Adder.
