Overview:
The hulking Blizzard Falcon seems to go against every design philosophy
the Storm Phoenix Combine possesses. It is a slow, heavily armored and
armed monster with all the manueverability of the average mountain, and
doesn't have a single backup weapon anywhere on the chassis for when its
very limited ammunition has been depleted. When one notes that it
is a House Hideyoshi invention, however, the Blizzard Falcon begins to
make sense, and its performance in the field shows that the speed-sacrificing
design philosophy just may work, even for the Storm Phoenix Combine.
Capabilities:
Due to the terrain of their homeworld, House Hideyoshi has little use for
the manueverability of most Storm Phoenix Mechs. The Blizzard Falcon
was the first Mech the Hideyoshi created and is, in effect, a mobile turret
to guard the few parts of Marin not covered by water. The Mech possesses
incredible firepower at any range, the shoulder-mounted gauss rifles backed
up at short range by twin heavy autocannon and Streak SRMs. Most
Blizzard Falcons use Inferno ammunition for their missiles, sometimes frying
an enemy pilot where they sit. Heavy armor ensures good survivability,
but the Blizzard Falcon's speed is barely above 30 kph--not suitable for
anything except the role for which it was designed.
Deployment:
The Blizzard Falcon sees most of its deployment in the Marin Striker Regiment,
but other Houses and the central military possess a few of these Mechs
for garrison duty. The Sirga Striker Regiment also fields many Blizzard
Falcons. Recently, the central military has started to send these
Mechs on raids as dropship defense.
Other Notes:
Lacking knowledge of the proper name, the Clans refer to the Blizzard Falcon
as the Barrier.
