FRCD 3623: Fundamentals for the Helping Professional
Course Objectives
- Apply theories of human development and family relationships in acquiring skills to be utilized as a helping professional
- Apply knowledge of interpersonal relationships (dyadic, family, and small group relationships) to the development of skills used as a helping professional
- Develop an understanding of how differing approaches affect the delivery of family and children's services
- Demonstrate skills in observing, assessing, documenting, reporting, probing, challenging, interviewing, counseling, leveraging, evaluating, and referring
- Demonstrate skills in assessment, planning, implementation, and reassessment in work with children, families, and groups.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of trends and issues related to the fundamental skills of helping professionals
- Explain the difference between ethical and unethical practices in the helping professions
- Demostrate skill in preparing essential notes for client case files.
- Utilize an opportunity to apply the skills you are learning in this course in a community organization
- Identify and describe models utilized in the helping process
