FRCD 3253 : Child Development and Guidance: School Age
Course Objectives
- Students will acquire knowledge about theory and research on children's physical, cognitive, social and emotional development during the pre-adolescent years
- Students will be able to discuss the role of family, parents, teachers, peers, and community in each of these areas (physical and cognitive)
- Students will acquire knowledge of the development of the profession of educating school age children.
- Students will be able to integrate theory and research with practicum experiences with children in the schools
- Students will be able to integrate theory and research with observations of individual behavior patterns in the schools
- Students will acquire an understanding of cultural diversity from readings and classroom experiences
- Students will acquire knowledge about the basic principles of administering and operating early childhood programs and will become aware of resources from which to acquire additional knowledge
