NEVER!

September 23rd, 2007 about noonish......

A motorcycle veers off the road

Carrying precious cargo,

Traveling and spinning through the air,

With rider still attached.

Breaking trees and branches,

Coming to rest about 8 feet from a rock wall!

The precious cargo that was being carried

Is a son, a brother, an uncle, a dearly loved one.

Bike and rider come to rest seperated from each other.

Rider with head upside down in hole,

Friends gather not knowing what to do

Then rider moves his body to show there is still some life left

But what are the injuries? No one knows.

Helicopter rides to and from for the severly wounded.

The largest Trama Center on the West Coast!

With Eight ICU Wards inside.

The scene that greets us at the hospital.

My knees buckle and I travel back in time

to when this scene played out 25 years ago in another hospital,

in another town.

When just a tiny baby in ICU recovering from open heart surgery.

Surely this could not be any worse!

Could it?

The injuries sustained were:

Brain bleeding, (causing a Semi Comatose state) Moderate brain injury.

Broken Right Scapular.

Broke Ribs 7 & 8 on Right.

Broken Jaw.

Bruised Liver and Lungs.

Helmet broken on both sides of jaw. Life saving device!

NOTE:*Bell on bike in photo*

We are living day to day.

Mother, Father, Brothers all stay at your side.

Praying is something we do on a minute by minute basis.

Making deals with God.

Legend has it Evil Road Spirits have been latching themselves on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey. Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike, the Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where pot-holes come from?) Legend also has it that the mystery of the Guardian Bell carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift. Show someone how much you care. Offer them defense against the Evil Road Spirits! Give a Guardian Bell and share the Legend of Good Luck it offers to a motorcycle and its rider!

The bell did offer protection.

Protection from the rock wall,

protection from death!

Older brother and wife trying to figure out the hand you were just dealt.

Younger brother trying to piece together just what had happened.

A broken jaw can be wired shut for three weeks to heal,

A broken heart from loosing someone dear never heals.

A dear friend that could not live with out you!

A Sister "not-in-law" that would miss you terribly!

A brother that would have empty days and nights.

A brother and his wife would be at a loss!

A father who would say life would never be right!

And, mom, who knows life would never be the same!

Brothers whose blood runs thick!

A special girl who was at your side in your hour of need!

Then a "sister" who came to visit and be at your side.

Leaving the hosiptal after only 7 days!

Elevators always go down!

Kindness goes a long way in life.

People who cared and were very concerned,

gather and rally for your good health!

We will always want to see "the pose"!

What a wonderful group of friends

to have on your side when you have wrecked your motorcycle

and are laying amongst a bunch of sticks and twigs!

THE MAN! Following you, and knows the mistake was not from stupidity, nor carelessness! We may never know!

Please, Stay safe and keep the rubber side down!

Going home!

Mt. Shasta covered in a Halo of clouds!

BE SAFE! You have a lot of people who love you!
