Flu Season:

Although the shot is the best way to protect yourself from the flu, that may not be an option for you this season because of the vaccination shortage, which limits the shot to those who are at a higher risk. We have compiled a list of ways to help keep your immune system in shape and hopefully avoid catching the flu.

1. Exercise-Oxygen plays a key role in your body's immune function. The more you exercise the better your body is at storing and using oxygen and the better at circulation.

2. Eat Healthy-Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains provides your body with essential vitamins and minerals necessary for opimal energy balance.

3. Lower your stress level-High levels of stress have been linked with heart disease, high blood pressure, and many other health conditions.

4. Get enough sleep-Good sleeping habits are key for allowing your body to repair itself.

5. Avoid alcohol and tobacco-Alcohol impairs your body's ability to fight against infections and tobacco can wreak havoc on your respiratory system giving colds and influenza the ability to attack.
